Warship Build 8 — Impavido Destroyer
Another warship, this time an escort. This is also the first Liao vessel, and I aim to build the Liao capital warship sometime in the future. For now, we have the Impavido to discuss.
In order to offer a reply to the newer warships built by the Federated Commonwealth and the Draconis Combine, the Capellan Confederation and the Free Worlds League decided to collaborate. The development of a destroyer was logical, as these vessels are usually meant to hunt and destroy other warships.
However, because they were still recovering from the devastation of the Succession Wars, the two states had to accept the aid of the Word of Blake, a fanatical splinter group of ComStar, in order to acquire the know-how for the project. Thus, the Impavido was designed and built.
However, this alliance wouldn’t last and eventually, these factions would start building their own vessels.
The size and function of the Impavido mean that it is an escort in my new design philosophy. It is a weirdly heavy ship given how small it is. However, going by the official stats, this is where it stands. It just takes 18 parts plus the base, so it ought to be easy to add to your collection.
The general design was, as per usual, inspired by the Steve Cross redesigns. Go check them out, as they are quite awesome. And the author of these fan TRO’s is working on new stuff, so stay up to date!
