Snow. Beautiful and enchanting. That’s what comes to mind after viewing this photograph. Yet in a different light, I think of hard work. Because like the person in this image, I too have shoveled snow. And I know all too well that it can be a lot of hard work.

When it snows, we must make a way. Clear a path. And like all things worth doing, it requires hard work. Sometimes we do this in the early hours before a morning commute. And other times before a late night bus ride. The snow must be plowed and somebody’s got to do it. The effort needed will vary, but the result is always the same: The snow no longer stands in our way.

When something like snow blocks our path, we have a decision to make. How do we continue on the way we have set? We can wait for the snow to move, ask someone to move it, or do it ourselves.

But if we make the choice to work hard and make a way, something beautiful and enchanting happens. And if you’re wondering, it’s not snow. It’s the joy of exercising our unique gifts to better ourselves and the world we live in.

Stay tuned for part three of this series.
