I’m sitting right where that orange circled pillow is.

I’m in Austin, Texas, sitting in the lobby of the HI Austin Hostel, having an adventure.

The kind where you find yourself in the middle of a throng of people you don’t know, who all seem to know each other. And then come back to a dorm where seven other women and you will sleep in bunk beds.

My room at the HI Austin Hostel. Way cooler than anticipated.

Right this minute, I’m spinning, filled with adrenaline.

I had this thought when I was in a fancy hotel lobby earlier, with 250 other writers — meeting and greeting.

Fat women do this thing where they access a room and try to decide if there is anyone fatter than them.

It’s barely even conscious. It just happens.

I’m not sure if thin women do the same thing. It’s entirely possible that they might.

Also men. Men might do it, too.

God, we are creatures obsessed with body size.

If I ever figure out a way to stop doing that, I feel like I’ll have unlocked a key to the universe.

I’m going to enjoy this yarn-bombed, lakeside hostel for a few more minutes and then sleep. The Smarter Artist Summit starts at 7:30 a.m. Central. My brain is on Pacific.

Yikes.
