And how to make your vision board the screen saver for your phone…

(This is the second of a series of five posts on making the most of the vision board experience — follow me to get the others as they are published!)

One of the challenges of making a vision board (especially if you live in a small London flat where the wall space is already taken up by your fella’s masterful photography and his vintage camera collection!) is deciding where to put your fabulous creation once you’ve made it.

There is obviously no point in making a vision board if you don’t see it daily!

One idea that has worked for me in the past is to put it inside a wardrobe door, so that every morning when I’m taking clothes out of the cupboard I catch a decent glimpse — but in these times of mobile gadgetry, there is an all together more modern solution.

We are constantly being told we must get OFF our mobile phones, but how would it be if BEFORE being tempted by crackbook, we were first confronted with our very own vision board gently reminding us that perhaps we have better things to do with our time.

That’s what you can do by making your vision board the lock screen of your mobile phone. Here is mine.

Now, the problem I have, is that my vision board was designed to be a landscape piece of art (wider than it is taller), which doesn’t suit the phone at all, because I lose a good half of it. I do however like that the cheese seems to be in the most prominent position!

Next time I will make mine ‘portrait’ so that it exactly fits the dimensions of the mobile monster. It will also make it easier to put the real-life version on the wardrobe door. I know ‘landscape’ has ruled the roost for generations, but even I, with my old-fashioned ways, am now turning into a ‘portrait’ kind of girl.

So — how do you do it?

  • Take a photo of your vision board
  • Go to the photo and click the ‘share’ button at the bottom of the screen
  • A series of icons will appear at the bottom
  • Scroll along until you find the one that says ‘Use as Wallpaper’
  • At this point you can move the image around the screen so it is in the position you want — then tap one of the options below to set which screen(s) you’d like it to apply to. The Lock Screen is what you see when you first turn the phone on, the Home Screen is the one with all your apps. Personally I find the Home Screen a little busy to have the vision board in the background, but it is perfect for the Lock Screen. It is the first thing I see when I pick up my phone.

And hurrah! You are now up there with the young folk — have vision board, will travel. There’s no stopping you now!

To make your own vision board, join us on Sunday, January 28th in London as we spend a full day, clarifying, cutting, arranging, gluing (glitter is optional), and enjoying ourselves as we create a fantastic vision board for the rest of the year.
