I am from Upstate New York and I’ve visited Adirondack Park many times over the decades.

I have climbed Adirondack mountains, enjoyed time with friends at Fourth Lake, gone downhill skiing and spent quite a bit of time in Lake Placid, including to play and watch hockey.

Until this month, however, I had never visited Cranberry Lake. It’s one of the largest in the Adirondacks (about 11 square miles), it’s fairly remote and it’s picturesque.

We camped with friends near the lake on several days with good weather, went kayaking, swimming and biking, and hiked up Bear Mountain.
