Focal point.
We’re aware that we can’t emphasise everything. It defeats the point. When we try to do that, all of our design elements compete for attention and nothing stands out. They’re all yelling at the same time. Everything is louder, but still nothing is heard.
Dominance.
The more dominant element likely has greater visual weight than the elements it dominates. We establish dominance through couple of things :
- colour
- depth
WinApp is about connecting with others — we build our services around social interaction. So we differentiate Follow with button with blue colour.
In the case of self profile, we wanted to encourage “content sharing” to benefit others. So we make New Post button as dominant element — blue colour.
