Hello there, friends!

My name is Dominique Williams. I am interested in metaphysics, spirituality, psychology, and really all things that have the potential to bring peace. That can be a wide range of things!

Right now, I’m obsessed with beginnings. This new Medium adventure I find myself embarking on just so happens to also coincide with the coming of the beginning season- spring. There’s much to write about regarding beginnings!

In the last three days, I’ve managed to gain 37 followers. Not too bad, though if I had more time I might be able to manage the 100 by now others speak of. That’s ok, I am content with the speed I’m at.

In time, I will get there!

The road ahead is uncertain and hazy. Within myself, I can feel the familiar mix of excitement and apprehension; will this endeavor sink or swim, fall or fly?

When I was young, a lot of strange things happened to me. Ghostly apparitions, translucent dots that came alive to play, memories of my infancy, etc. I had no choice but to believe there is more to this world than what we see and know, though the unseen and unknown remain elusive at best.

Still, I find some things worth believing in:

  • Like the power of the mind, whether that’s magical or psychological (or social). Our minds are capable of such amazing things!
  • And the power of emotions. I think the energy of emotions exists beyond the context of its source. A room after a fight has a sort of angry tingle to it, don’t you think?
  • These powers allow for anything to be possible when paired with mass perspective. The more people believe a thing, the more likely it is to become true in some capacity.

In this way, I feel that magic exists, has existed, and will continue to exist throughout our world — hidden in plain sight.

Depression And Walking Meditation

The big story of my life began with my depression. Throughout my young adult years, I regularly got depressed. Many times including suicidal ideation, which is a fancy term for “thinking about suicide.”

Life was hard and unforgiving, it seemed. There were lots of people that had it worse, so I couldn’t complain. But I couldn’t stop complaining anyway. The moments when I didn’t complain were either due to extreme lethargy or drug induced highs.

Adolescence was quite a ride for me.

Halfway through my 20’s, I started a sort of “walking meditation” mantra. The world was messed up, my life was still mostly terrible, and I wanted an answer of how to fix both. Or at least one.

Every moment I could spare, I deliberated over this goal. There was a lot more marijuana involved, though I had mostly given up on other drugs. Even alcohol lost its appeal in the depths of my depression back then.

Over many years, I was slowly given an answer to pick apart and piece back together.

I wrote a book I’ve never published based on the initial “answer.” Since then I’ve been working out how to unpack its interpretation. The book itself was too raw for general consumption.

I’ve rewritten the information at least 11 different times and ways, and it never feels complete.

The Medium Goal

I hope over time to impart that knowledge here, on Medium. The biggest struggle I’ve had with the information was structure. What should go before what? What order is best for people to read things in?

Well, turns out there’s no such thing. Not universally. Each person will be different, so their “best order” will be unpredictable.

How do you write a book so fluid that people can literally read it in any order without being led somehow?

I tried to make a website to fix this, but it still seemed to be missing something. Plus, no one came. That made it less ideal.

But on Medium, that problem is resolved! Whatever place readers enter into the journey will be unique to you. Where you click to read next is a new choice that further separates every path into its own unique perspective!

And, people are already here!

From here, I can trust the Universe to guide people to my stories and articles that might benefit from them in the order best for them.

What a great opportunity Medium is!

Anyway, that is me. That is why I am here, writing on Medium. For better or worse, I hope to spread peace as I have found it through my long journey to the other side of depression.

I wish you peace, friend, whoever and wherever you are!
