About Me — John Corso
Always learning
My name is John Corso and this is my “About Me” story:
As I write this, I’m 45 years old and I’m looking out over the Hudson River at New York City. I am tired after a long day at work as a Special Education Teacher and Instructional Coach (I help other teachers reach their full potential.)
I love my job, although at times it is pure chaos.
I fear for the future.
I ask myself, “what do you have to say on Medium that’s so interesting? What makes you think people will want to read your writing?”
The answer to those questions is… I’m not so sure. But I’m here to tell you who I am:
I hold a Master of Science Degree in Education; A black belt in Kenpo Karate (and former instructor); I’m a Mensa member; I’ve sold art that people have hanging in their homes; I am a movie buff, especially when it comes to sci-fi, fantasy, and horror; Like many people of my generation, I was a voracious reader growing up, but I struggle to find the attention span these days.
In past lives I’ve had different jobs selling ladies’ shoes (yes, like Al Bundy, and yes, I’ve had to use the shoehorn to squeeze shoes onto feet they had no business being on), cell phones, and luggage. I’ve been a busboy, a telemarketer, and I even tried…
