About Me — Night-blooming Ceroid
“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.” Ralph Waldo Emerson
Hello Everyone! I am introducing myself under a penname of Night-blooming Ceroid, a short-lived, rare cactus that blooms at night. I have been a Medium reader for about two years but am fairly new to the platform as a writer.

I was born in India and migrated to the US as a teenager. Currently, I am a part-time freelancer and a stay-at-home mom to two amazing daughters. I am an introvert who loves her books. One of my all-time favorite authors is Pearl S. Buck. I enjoy food, arts, and spending time with anyone from whom I can learn something new.
As a teenager, I loved putting my thoughts on paper. Writing in a diary was a way for me to feel less lonely in a new country while learning a new language. However, my habit of being brutally honest in my writing landed me in trouble with my guardians. As a result, I became fearful of expressing myself through writing. I have written about technical topics in science and education; however, it has taken me three decades to muster up the courage to write about my personal experiences again. People in my life aren’t quite ready to listen to my stories, but someone somewhere might be. I know I am ready to start writing again and share my stories.
I plan to write about my experiences navigating this life mainly from a perspective of an Indian woman navigating two cultures, from a perspective of an adopted daughter, a wife, a mother, and an autistic. Through this outlet, I hope to connect with others on similar journeys and hopefully learn from their experiences. Hopefully, you’ll join me on this journey. Thank you for reading!
