Closing a deal and getting the keys to a home is liberating. Emotions that are felt what you have achieved can be overwhelming.

Your first instinct after the excitement settles down is to hurry and move all your belongings in, but that is not what you should do first.

After purchasing my first house, there are three things I should have done before moving everything in. It does not matter if you just bought a home or are renting. These tips will help you avoid the mistakes I made to better your transition to moving in before shoving everything in.

Lock Changes.

Changing your locks is the first thing you should do!

Taking extra precautions to ensure the safety of yourself and anyone else in the house is necessary.

You never know who had access to the house before. You want to avoid a situation someone breaking in because they they can walk in at any time.

Replacing locks is inexpensive.

Just identify all entrance doors and replace the locks. It is an easy process but if you don’t know how to replace locks just YouTube it.
