Riding on the momentum of the exclusive launch of My Pet Hooligan (MPH) on Polygon, which enables the game and its on-chain assets to be hosted on the leading Layer 2 network, AMGI Studios has been busy exploring new ways to make the game even more accessible to tenderfoot Hooligans entering the fray.

Polygon’s bustling landscape of gaming projects has opened up a world of possibilities for collaborative experimentation, and AMGI is diving right in to drive innovation within the space. The studio has teamed up with web3 gaming guild Yield Guild Games (YGG) to bring My Pet Hooligan to the latest season of YGG’s questing system, the Guild Advancement Program (GAP), an initiative powered by Polygon.

To celebrate this collaboration among the three groups, a Spaces event was hosted by Kate Irwin, Decrypt’s Gaming Lead Reporter and the Creative Producer of GG by Decrypt, with speakers AMGI Studios COO Luke Paglia, YGG co-founder Gabby Dizon, and Polygon co-founder Sandeep Nailwal and VP and Head of Global Business Development Urvit Goel. The discussion revolved around how the exposure and reach of games like My Pet Hooligan can be amplified through the GAP.

AMGI’s Exclusive Commitment to the Polygon Ecosystem

As the moderator leading the discussion, Kate fired off captivating questions about the growing ecosystem of games on Polygon, which are being fueled by the network’s collaborations with platforms like ImmutableX, and also asked about what the future could look like for web3 gaming in the months to come.

Kate was among the first few Hooligans to trial Alpha version 2.0 Turbo, making her the perfect moderator who could bring a true gamer’s perspective to the conversation. “I had such a blast playtesting [My Pet Hooligan], even though there weren’t many folks in my lobby at the time,” she said during the Spaces event. “I think a lot more folks have played since I playtested it pretty early. I remember sniping people with a plunger from across the map and there’s just some really funny stuff. I thought it was super fun, and I had way more fun playing it than I’ve had playing Fortnite.”

With AMGI exclusively committing to a 12-month agreement to operate on Polygon, the studio is paving the way for a range of promotional, networking and investment prospects within the thriving Polygon gaming ecosystem as it taps into over 300,000 daily active users. “Both the gaming community as well as the games themselves are reaching a place I call the ‘magic point,’ from which hockey stick growth can be observed,” said Polygon co-founder Sandeep Nailwal. “I am very optimistic about the overall blockchain gaming scene in the next six to 12 months,” he continued.

The collaboration also facilitates the seamless trading of assets on the secondary market that are earned from in-game activities like questing, which, according to Polygon VP and Head of Global Business Development Urvit Goel, can be a rewarding experience that benefits all parties. “Questing, at the end of the day, is very similar to what’s in web2 today around incentivized ads, right? [The games are] trying to monetize, which drives additional attention. But now you come into this environment with YGG and My Pet Hooligan, and we’re creating quests.”

Urvit continued, “Now it’s actually fun to go down the other engagement paths, which increases engagement for the developer and is more fun for the end user. And at the end of it, you earn an asset that may or may not have significant value over time and allows you to enjoy the game in different ways in addition to having secondary value in the market.”

Elevating the Web3 Gaming Landscape Through Partnerships

Answering Kate’s question on how the connection between YGG and AMGI came about, YGG co-founder Gabby Dizon shared, “Our Head of Asset Acquisition found My Pet Hooligan on Twitter a little over a year ago, and we reached out to Luke and the team. Now, we’ve met each other over a couple of GDCs and a bunch of our team have been to their studio in Burbank. Obviously, we are big fans of My Pet Hooligan — we hold a bunch of their NFTs and even started questing in their game. A lot of the things now at YGG revolve around bringing our web3 gaming community to quests inside different games.”

Set to bring even more rowdy rabbits into the fold, AMGI has coordinated with YGG to add My Pet Hooligan to the current lineup of games featured in the Guild Advancement Program (GAP), which rewards the YGG community with soulbound tokens that they can showcase to flex their on-chain achievements. With this collaboration, YGG is skating into Hooliland not just to wreak havoc with the rest of the Karrot Gang, but also to provide valuable feedback on the game and invite more chaotic bunnies to share footage of their Hooligan shenanigans.

The My Pet Hooligan Urban Climber quest in GAP Season 4 invites participants to share unique video content of their exploration of Hooliland on social media. “What’s interesting about this quest is that we were working with the My Pet Hooligan team so that we didn’t just have a quest for people who went into the game,” Gabby added. “We want people to stream and be content creators in the game, so we created a quest called Urban Climber to share content about them playing My Pet Hooligan. And we are really excited to see what the community does around that.”

Hooligans that conquer the Urban Climber quest will be able to snag a sleek MPH-branded soulbound token after the season concludes on November 2, 2023.

“We’re playing the long game together between Polygon and YGG to bring quality to the space, but that takes time, perseverance and survival,” said AMGI Studios COO Luke Paglia, reflecting on the value of partnerships. “Defying the odds by approaching it from a different angle is really our way of getting there. But it takes teamwork and everybody [here] to be working together, bringing their own abilities to this space.”
