BackiFi Configurations — where the magic happens

This quick guide will show you how to wrap Controllers, Schedules and Storage Locations into Configurations for automated backups

When you first sign-up to BackiFi.com you are presented with a blank work-space. You first need to connect to at least one controller, setup at least one schedule and connect at least one end storage point.

The BackiFi application is designed to allow for multiples of controllers, schedules and storage locations, so you can choose how you run backups — like one run controller to three different storage locations, or use the same schedules across five different controllers to one or many storage locations. So no matter how many controllers you have, if it is just you manage the backups, you will only need to register one account.

Let’s assume you have done these steps for the rest of this guide.

1. Go to your Configurations page and click the + to add a new configuration.
2. Set a Nickname, select a Controller, Schedule and Storage location, toggle to Active.
3. Select the type of backup you want to do — settings only, or settings plus 1–14 days of logs. We suggest you just backup settings, but we did not want to tell you what you can and can’t do.
4. Click the purple ✓ to save. Then click on Email PREFERENCES to set when you want to get an email alert — for the purpose of testing, turn on for successful backups for now.
5. Click the RUN button under Manual Backup to test that the backup file runs successfully.

Setup as many configurations as you like — this can be for daily, weekly, monthly backups or for multiple controllers, or multiple backup locations etc.

While you are here, also click on the circle top right with your picture or initials and go to Account. In here you can turn on Weekly/Monthly backup report emails or turn on Multi-Factor Authentication
