In this update: competitive races and 2021 roadmap!

Welcome to our Battle Racers Update! In these updates, we’ll share with you the status of the game and how development is going. For this joint update covering January to March, you’ll also get the latest details on the ongoing tournament, the recent $SCRAP release, and our latest project roadmap featuring the upcoming competitive racing feature.

The update is divided into the following sections:

  • Tournament Update
  • Build Update
  • Website Update
  • Press and Events Roundup
  • What’s Next

Tournament Update:

Tournament season began last February as we announced the Battle Racers Winter Event!

We welcomed new racers to our community through the Weekly Time Trials, a leaderboard-based competition on Track 2 of the Battle Racers arena. In this free-for-all event, the Top 30 players who submitted their fastest race time each won the special edition Guerilla DaiHard car part of the week, sponsored by MakerDAO. Only ten (10) racers were able to assemble a complete Guerilla DaiHard car by joining all four weeks of the event, so be on the lookout for these super rare parts on the market!

MakerDAO-inspired Guerilla DaiHard parts were given away each week!

Meanwhile, the Weekly Duels made its return with some new rules! In this 1v1 best-of-3 tournament on Track 1, the Top 2 winners each week win Battle Racers Season 1 Crates and top-seeded spots in the upcoming Duel Cup Open tournament. As of today, the tournament proper of Week 3 is currently ongoing, and we will announce registration for Week 4 soon.

Build Update:

While the Winter Event was taking place, we added some updates to the Battle Racers build on both our website and on Decentraland. Here is a list of the changes since last time:

  • Added event billboards and UI popups
  • Added links to our social media channels and Discord server
  • Added several improvements to race timing implementation and multiplayer latency management
  • Improved wallet connect UI for https://play.battleracers.io

Coming next this April is our Competitive Races feature! Players will be able to earn our new $SCRAP currency in-game by competing against other players. Races with more competitors will bring in bigger rewards. And to shake things up a bit, new race tracks are also being constructed and will be ready in the next quarter! More details to be announced soon.

Website Update:

Our biggest release in the past quarter is the launch of $SCRAP, an ERC-20 token which serves as our progression currency. Over 14,000 $SCRAP were minted on the Matic Chain during the initial airdrop last March 24th, and the Inventory page has been updated with a counter that displays how much $SCRAP a wallet contains.

More UI improvements will be made this April as we work on the Garage feature on the website. In addition to indicators for Queued and Ready-to-Claim for network-transferred parts, we will be implementing a Filter feature to the Inventory page, making it easier to assemble loadouts with your favorite parts and builds.

Press and Events Roundup:

This momentous event was featured on the Arkane Network blog and on eGamers.io.
