Those investors that managed to understand what’s actually beyond mass SMS messaging before it became a mass market, now are on the words top. And that’s why those, who are among them, get a monthly profit of several hundred thousand dollars or even more. These earnings, both online and offline are considered the most profitable business and simply due to the fact that almost everyone today has a cell phone, and thanks to the modern SMS technology.

That is why staying savvy in terms of SMS can bring your either small or big business a lot of profit.

SMS Messaging ABCs

Nowadays SMS can be sent and received easily due to the modern SMS technologies and high tech cell phones. By sending SMS, modern mobile phones provide all the information necessary for the proper delivery to the recipient, of course, under the condition of a correct function configuration. In addition, modern phone models will automatically split the message you’ve typed too long into individual SMS packets and send them as several SMS-messages. In GSM networks SMS-messages are transmitted using the same network infrastructure through which the voice signal is delivered.

Before getting to the phone (BS), SMS-message goes through the switching centers to the SMS message processing center, and then it goes back to the BS, near which the receiver is currently located.

The basis of SMS technology is a Short Message Service Center (SMSC). It is the service that receives the message that is sent, and performs all the work on its reception, storage and further delivery. Typically, the center consists of a message server that provides storage, message processing, and a gateway device through which the server interacts with the network infrastructure elements.

The gateway device provides the message server with an interface with voice and e-mail services and provides communication with external sources of messages for the network, SMSC centers of other mobile systems, for example.

If the recipient is unavailable, the center stores the message until the subscriber appears within the network visibility. If the message is not delivered within the period set by the sender, the center notifies the sender of this and removes the message.

In the case that the switch was able to establish communication with the needed subscriber, the message is transmitted via the usual signal channels and reaches the phone destination. The received text is displayed on the screen and stored in the identification module of a cell phone (SIM-card). If the connection to the mobile station does not take place (the subscriber is busy at the moment), the switch informs the center of the SMS and asks for the messaging to be repeated, when the connection becomes possible.

The messages intended for mobile users can be sent to SMSC from subscribers of the same or other networks through the data transmission channels of various information services, as well as manually collected by the operator of the receiving calls center via ordinary telephone lines.

In GSM networks, SMS messages can be received directly during the telephone conversation of the subscriber without having a significant impact on voice and service traffic, etc.

SMS Messaging in Business

At the moment, it’s hardly possible to imagine an advertising campaign without triggered mass SMS messaging, which allows you to instantly contact the customers and provide them with all the necessary information or even get a feedback from them on vital issues.

Analysts believe that the future of the entire advertising sphere is up to SMS-marketing. Today, its effectiveness already exceeds the efficiency of other media in several times. In the near future, 20% of the advertising market will be occupied by SMS advertising only.

Moreover, today, mobile advertising is extremely fast developing worldwide: in the USA, European countries, Japan, South Korea and other regions. All over the world, it is represented mainly by SMS messaging.

At the same time, such messaging costs are much lower than the costs for the other promotional activities. Therefore, with the minimal costs, the effectiveness of the advertising campaign is significantly increased, which’s a real way out for low budget campaigns, small businesses and startups, as well as big and stable companies.

SMS Messaging Advantages

SMS messaging has already been defined as a reliable and proven technology for fast and effective business promotion, through which you can do the following things:

  • Inform the customers on a range of updates
  • Notify about the upcoming marketing actions
  • About sales and other promotions
  • Remind of an important event
  • Congratulate the consumers on the upcoming holidays and much more.

In fact, SMS messaging opportunities are almost limitless if applied in the right place at the right time. Consider the effectiveness of this marketing tool on the example of an online store. SMS messaging allows you to notify the managers about making a new purchase, and the customers to learn about the status of their order, etc.

In addition, this technology allows you to increase the number of return customers and purchases. Shares within a limited validity period provide a positive effect even for middle-priced goods, and SMS messages are ideal for the informing customers.

Now you are aware of the fact that, roughly speaking, what’s beyond each mass SMS messaging campaign is basically pure profit. Whether to use SMS mobile marketing or not is up to you, however, anyway it is a universal advertising tool for increasing sales and general brand awareness. Keep tuned in and feel free to use it no matter what.
