Welcome to San Lorenzo Part 1: So It Goes, So They Vote
If San Lorenzo had elections, they’d look exactly like ours. Politics isn’t about policy — it’s about selling stories, belonging, and righteousness.
If San Lorenzo had elections, they’d probably look a lot like ours.
Not because the people of San Lorenzo were stupid. Not because they were evil. Not because they lacked information. They’d look familiar because the people of San Lorenzo were human, and human beings have a habit of choosing stories over facts whenever the stories are more entertaining.
Think about it.
Every election season, Americans suddenly become experts. The guy who couldn’t explain how his own health insurance works develops strong opinions about international trade. The woman who gets her news from Facebook memes starts lecturing people about constitutional law. Everybody has statistics. Everybody has graphs. Everybody has a podcast clip. Everybody has a YouTube video. Everybody has proof.
And yet nobody ever seems to change anybody’s mind.
