This report aims to compare temperature changes during 1960 to 2010 between two countries, Japan and New Zealand. Both of them are located on the same latitude, but one is in the Northern Hemisphere, and the other one is in the Southern Hemisphere.

Japan

-In the first two decades, the temperature dropped down from 12.5℃ to 12℃.

-The temperature then rose to 13℃ between 1980 to 2010.

-During 1960 to 2000, there was a rise in the temperature by almost 1℃.

-When the Kyoto Protocol was signed in 1997, the temperature stabilized in the following 10 years.

New Zealand

-From 1960 to 1980, the temperature fluctuated between 10.5℃ to 10.8℃.

-During 1980 to 2020, the temperature slightly increased by 0.5℃, from around 10.6℃ to 11.1℃.

-Over the last 50 years, the overall temperature in New Zealand has only risen by 0.6℃.

To sum up, Japan has experienced more temperature changes than New Zealand. However, when Japan decided to sign an agreement to control the emissions of greenhouse gases, the temperature started to stabilize. On the contrary, the temperature in New Zealand is predicted to destabilize as they did not join the Protocol.
