Welcome to Chalk Talk, everyone! We know it’s been a bit since you heard from us. It’s been a hard and strange year for all of us… a busy one too! Luckily for you, Dewi decided it was time to do a new collaboration project!

Time to Rhyme

This project is all about the rhymes. We’ve given you three seed poems with different rhyme schemes. Your job is to choose rhymes from those (or other ) poems and build a new poem around the rhymes.

Our three seed poems are:

We’ve also gotten three submissions for your reading enjoyment:

Project deadline for this one is Sept. 9, 2020 — so get those rhymes going!

One Liners/Chalkboard Espressos

Our longest running collaboration project, this one is all about short pieces you write to our weekly prompts. Chalkboard Espressos are pieces 1–15 words in length. One liners are piece 16–30 words in length.

New prompts come out every Wednesday and are announced via the weekly newsletter for the project. If the prompt one week doesn’t get you going, check out the prior 24 prompts — you can find them at the bottom of the One Liner page.

We publish 30 to 40 poems each week for this project. Be sure to check back regularly to see what all of our great writers have come up with!

What’s next?

One liner prompts are scheduled out through the end of November. If you are interested in doing a prompt, read the Submission policies: Prompts.

We are hoping to do another big project in October. We are looking for ideas. We could do the same project as last year (Write or Die) — or we could do something new. If you have ideas, let us know! You can always email us at chalkboard.moderator@gmail.com or reply to this news letter.
