Charged Particles Artist Spotlight — Shoneec
The winner of our June Artist Showcase is longtime community member and talented artist, Shoneec! Their artwork, Air Tower, is part of a series of towers that explore a profound world. And it certainly seemed to speak to our esteemed voters! Let’s dive into the spotlight and hear directly from Shoneec!
- Tell us about Air tower as well as the Tower Series!
So the tower series is my attempt of creating a small universe where I could make multiple pieces and make them share a bit of the story and world building. The idea came spontaneously last year. I was a little bit inspired by Fifth Element movie for these pieces. Every tower is linked to an element, and each tower stands as more than just an element, often linked to a certain human behaviour. For instance the Air Tower itself governs all movement, and is associated with freedom, travel, thought and ideas. The in-universe story is that there is some sort of corruption going on in the world, and the towers might be the answer to solve it. Every tower has garnered followers and small cult like groups have formed that try to decipher the towers message.
2. Could you tell us a bit about your art, how you got into as well as NFTs?
I started doing digital art back in 2003 when I first discovered Photoshop. Most of my work from those days consisted of photo manipulation with photoshop, collage and that sort of work. I took a break because of personal reasons and didn't do any personal work for around 8 years straight. I slowly started getting back into it 2 years before I joined NFTs in January of 2021, where I minted my first piece on January 13th. Nowadays I am doing my art in 3D realm, mostly creating in Zbrush by sculpting. I have been shifting and trying to find myself where I truly belong, so my next work might be a little surprising, so I hope people like it!
3. What inspires your artworks?
I am not really sure. I like looking at a lot of different art, but I could say that there is not one thing in particular that drives me. It’s a fusion between other art, music, video games, and my life experiences that drive the artworks.
4. What are you currently working on?
I’m working on animated piece for a pretty long time now, it’s something I haven’t done before in this way, so I’m excited and nervous at the same time with how it will turn out. Hopefully it turns out how I have everything set up in my head.
5. anything you are looking forward to in the near future?
I am looking for more adoption of NFTs and crypto in general. I dislike how much misinformation is going around regarding this ecosystem we are apart of. And I can say that I am looking forward of becoming a better artist every day!
