With version 2 of our protocol going live and exploring brand new use cases of Charged Particles, April comes packed with a lot of news and work from our team.

Let’s walk you through everything that took place during April at Charged Particles.

Charged Particles V2 went Live

Version 2 of the Charged Particles Protocol is now live! V2 includes major updates at the Smart Contract level, and minor updates to the user interface of https://app.charged.fi.

The main V2 updates include:

  • Additional support for whitelisted ERC-721 NFTs
  • Support for depositing ERC-1155 tokens
  • The ability to claim an airdrop on behalf of a Particle
  • The ability to redirect creator annuities from the original creator to a third party
  • A new Proton contract (ProtonB) with some minor gas improvements
  • A Sample Non-fungible implementation of the ERC-1155 token standard

In addition to these new features, all of the core functionality of V1 is available in the V2 Protocol.

V1 will continue to exist in perpetuity, but most new activity will be on V2 of the protocol. In order to get all of the features of V2, you will have to migrate your Particle’s assets. Users will be able to access both versions of the protocol from app.charged.fi.

DAO Capsules

2022 is shaping up to be the “Year of the DAO” and we are delighted to launch DAO Capsules.

DAO Capsule NFT powered by Charged Particles can function as:

  • A DAO membership token for access and voting (compatible with Snapshot, Collabland, Gnosis etc.)
  • A vault to time-lock equity tokens
  • A mailbox/bank account to receive payments/dividends/rewards/NFTs

In this model, holding the DAO Capsule is DAO membership. As custodians of these bearer instruments, holders are of course free to give/trade/sell their DAO Capsules, and so transfer their “seat at the table”, along with all assets inherent.

Escrow Capsules

The fundamental ethos of Web3 and crypto is peer-to-peer, permission-less, trust-less, dis-intermediating technology. From this point of view, use of escrow agents is a security vulnerability that seems increasingly antiquated and redundant, as do escrow fees.

Charged Particles solves this. We offer permission-less, fee-free tech, to be your own escrow service — or more accurately, to let an NFT handle escrow. Here’s how you create Escrow Capsules:

All 3 steps can be carried out in 3 minutes on Charged.fi. And can be performed on Ethereum or Polygon network.

  1. Mint the Escrow Capsule NFT
Make it simple, or jazz it up with artwork.
  2. Energize the Capsule with the tokens you wish to sell
As many ERC-20 and ERC-721 tokens as you are selling.
  3. Set the Price of the Capsule
Set price in ETH on app.charged.fi. Or if you prefer another currency, set the price on OpenSea, Rarible, LooksRare, etc.

Particlon — The First “Genergizable” PFP Drop

Particlon is a generative collection of 10,069 PFPs distributed across 4 species, from 3 planets. On April 14th, the Particlons were revealed! These are the first generative NFT collection that is Energizable — meaning each Particlon NFT can contain assets within it.

Upon mint, Particlon’s were endowed with Particlon Utility Tokens, ($PUT). As VASI, the team behind Particlon have said,

“$PUT will be used to acquire additional in-game assets and may be used in additional ways in the ecosystem.”

As the first-of-it’s-kind, this is an experiment in action — the proof will be in the ‘PUTing’. People are now viewing their multi-planetary space-age PPFs on our Dapp, including viewing/charging/discharging embedded assets.

Particlon is the jewel in the crown of applications built upon Charged Particles. The ‘Charged Universe’ continues to expand multi-dimensionally, across music, gaming, finance, DAOs, and PFPs.

V4 IONX rewards program on Gysr

We are delighted to bring to you V4 of the IONX rewards program on Gysr.io. The pools available are IONX and IONX-WETH. V3 has ended, but you can still access V1, V2 & V3 on rewards.charged.fi. Participants can withdraw and harvest from the V1-V3 contracts in perpetuity, and then migrate them to V4 on GYSR. For a full guide on migration, including screenshots and instructions on how to migrate, see our documentation.

Polygon liquidity pool launched

We’ve now deployed a liquidity pool for IONX on Polygon via Quickswap. This opens the door to giving IONX a greater value and lowers the gas fees while trading.

Ultimate Trash Panda

The community card games with the Legendary CybertoothKat continued strongly with the release of Ultimate Trash Panda, an 11-player game on Polygon using Charged Particles tech to power its gameplay. We covered the game in extensive detail in our Medium article “UTP–A Nested Community Card Game”. We love to see our community pushing the boundaries of our protocol, and engaging fellow members with their individual projects! When asked for his own thoughts on the outcome of the game, Cybertooth replied, “As a card game, Ultimate Trash Panda worked very well as an NFT-based focal point to galvanize the community into a fun exercise where we explored the very best features of the CP marketplace and community discord together”.

Following the conclusion of the Ultimate Trash Panda game, Cybertooth dropped teasers of the next installment, an exciting showdown between Rogues and Ronins. Stay tuned for the game details in the first week of May!

Guilds

As always, the best place to get involved with Charged Particles and the community is with our various Guilds all accessible within our discord! Our member count and projects continue to grow and we encourage anyone who is interested to get started there; Whether your interest is in game development, art, ecology, music, fashion, and more, there is a place for everyone! We suggest hopping in and getting acquainted with the Guild leaders as well as the talented folks that frequent the channels.

Team Member Highlight

Kam

This month we are shining a well deserved spotlight on our very own Kam! Some of you may know Kam as one of our hardworking devs but let’s dig into the fun details! Born in Crawley, England and raised in Toronto, Kam studied computer science and technology throughout various coffeeshops in Montreal at McGill University. He was a magician growing up, who particularly loved the art of sleight of hand and cardistry, which led into a love for computer building after getting his first computer at 13.

Kam jumped into the space by auctioning his own NFT Projects at 21 and 22 (The first one being tokenized advertisements and the second one being tokenized selfies), then found enjoyment within dapp development, making a full-time pivot from DevOps into web3 soon after. Currently Kam is looking forward to building out dapp initiatives, the upcoming wallet dapp, and working with the team to scale rewards and nft liquidity mining for the protocol! Additionally, he is excited to be working with DAOs and scaling some of the important aspects of web3 that are critical for our space.

About Charged Particles

Charged Particles is a protocol that allows users to deposit ERC-20, ERC-721, and ERC-1155 tokens into NFTs. A scarce NFT (e.g. Art, Collectible, Virtual Real Estate, In-Game Item, etc.) can now be transformed into a basket holding a number of other tokens. The Principal amount can be time-locked inside the NFT, and through integration with Aave’s aTokens, the programmable yield from these DeFi yield-generating assets is just a few clicks away.

Applications of Charged Particles:

DAO Capsules | ✅ Vesting Capsules | ✅ Escrow Capsules | ✅ NFT Trust Accounts | ✅ Gift Baskets | ✅ Improved NFT Index Funds | ✅ Financially Appreciating Artworks | ✅ Nested Bundles of Artworks | ✅ Redemption Tickets | ✅ Creative Crowd-funding Campaigns | ✅ Company Token Promos
