October was a fantastic month at Charged Particles full of new integrations, our first public hackathon, the launch of our DeFi NFT Viewer, updated staking, features in the media, an NFT in space, and more! Read on to see everything we’ve been up to in the last month!

Charged Labs Hackathon

This month we hosted our first, hybrid public/internal hackathon which was a huge success. We gave away $10k in prizes to the top three teams which built some incredible projects on top of the Charged Particles Protocol as well as NFTPerp.

The first prize of $7500 went to “Testudo,” a tool for personalized & semi-automated indices for retail investors. This is an innovative financial use case, scaleable idea with a strong potential for a product. Attacked a problem and delivered a potential solution.

Second place went to “Phoenix,” an innovative NFT drop using novel liquidity mechanics. Check out the presentation here!

Third place went to “Massv,” a tool used to batch energize multiple NFTs in a single transaction. We anticipate seeing this tool used in a number of interesting use-cases very soon!

And last but not least we gave an honorable mention to “NFT Perp Trader,” which built a tool for limit orders/stop loss functions. Check out the github repository here.

Coinbase Hackathon Begins

Starting now, we are proud to be a Polygon ecosystem partner and sponsor of the Coinbase Hackathon taking place over the next two months. We’ll be advising teams building as well as running a Charged Particles-focused workshop.

Join the workshop on November 8th!

Bounties for building on Charged Particles and Polygon total $30,000, so be sure to sign up if you are interested in participating!

Sending a FLUF World NFT to Space

Charged Particles legal advisor David Rodman sent his FLUF World NFT to space aboard the SpaceX SARah-1 Falcon 4 Rocket. Upon its return to Earth, we nested a ‘Proof of Space’ token inside to commemorate its journey.

Allowlist & UI Integration Voting

Our integration of external contracts continues bi-weekly with new governance votes for allowlisting and UI integration. This means that other NFTs will be able to retroactively use the Charged Particles protocol to nest assets inside their NFTs.

Participating in governance enters you in a chance to win $100 of IONX as well as 1000 NOISE tokens, the official social token of Unchained Music, used to recognize community contributions.

Visit our Snapshot to participate in the regular governance votes!

DeFi-NFT Explorer

We were very proud to announce this month that our DeFi NFT Viewer app has gone live into Beta. Over time this will replace our v1 art DApp and allow users to view all the NFTs in their wallet as well as any tokens nested inside of them. This app will greatly streamline our ability to update and maintain as well as making it easier to access external NFTs that we have allowlisted.

GYSR Staking Reward Pool Update

We have entered our next Epoch of IONX staking on GYSR. If you have had your IONX staked already, you don’t need to do anything — it will update automatically. You are able to add more GYSR tokens to boost your rewards though if you so choose!

Charged Particles at DevCon Bogota

Ben Lakoff represented Charged Particles at DevCon in Colombia this month and participated in their opening weekend hackathon. There he placed as a finalist with his project diZKreet, a Zero Knowledge Privacy Layer. Congrats!

About Charged Particles

Charged Particles is a protocol that allows users to deposit ERC-20, ERC-721, and ERC-1155 tokens into NFTs. A scarce NFT (e.g. Art, Collectible, Virtual Real Estate, In-Game Item, etc.) can now be transformed into a basket holding a number of other tokens. The Principal amount can be time-locked inside the NFT, and through integration with Aave’s aTokens, the programmable yield from these DeFi yield-generating assets is just a few clicks away.
