UTP — A Nested NFT Community Card Game
Space Raccoons + Polygon NFTs + Composability = A Very Good Time!
DeFi Gaming doesn’t need to be complex. In fact, humans started playing card games roughly a thousand years before computers or the blockchain.
This month, community member and Gaming Guild founder Cybertooth Kat lead a five day NFT strategy game called Ultimate Trash Panda — a game of strategy, cunning, and a modest helping of deceit!
Eleven players were dealt three Polygon NFT playing cards with varying point values and instructions. The rest of the deck was available for sale for .1 MATIC each (though Cybertooth was kind enough to supply each player with some MATIC to play with). We were each assigned a quadrant represent each suit of the deck, and for five days we conspired to get as many points as we can.
In the end, we would need to used Charged Particles technology to nest these NFTs inside one another to get even more points, and the winner would win prizes including 500 IONX tokens, rare art, and more!
The real kicker was the “Enforcer” card. If you held this joker at the end of the game, you’d lose regardless of how many points you had. Using this, people were able to strong arm each other into getting the cards they needed. There were trades, sales, group tactics, third party wallets, disguised NFTs, and more!
With only one day left in the game, I was in second place, but I had an Enforcer card, and I had a plan.
I sent the enforcer to a brand new wallet to cover my tracks, minted an inconspicuous NFT, and hid the Enforcer card inside it by nesting it on Charged Particles. Although anyone could open it up and see the nested Enforcer inside, the disguise was so good that surely no one would catch on…
I sent this disguised NFT to the player in first place, but alas, with only a few minutes left to spare, community member Setty noticed my trap and was able to send off the Enforcer to another wallet and take victory! Congrats on the win and the grand prize!

The takeaway here is that a lot of the space already has all the utility you need to create engaging, fun, and creative games to play with your communities. You don’t need million dollar UIs, Unreal Engine, or a celebrity to endorse it. All you need it your imagination!
Though, Charged Particles does make it a little more … interesting!
