This is a ‘choose your own’ fiction story, “drabble edition”. Head back to the previous instalment: ‘An Orc Sighting’ or ‘Magical Armor’ by JF Danskin. Or go back to Chapter 1: “The Burned Village.” Find out how to contribute to the ongoing story here.

You continue on the forest trails, a spring in your step. The armor is snug. Birdsong echoes around.

Polki leads; the goblin knows the path. Ahead, huge rocks point the way to vast cliffs ahead.

Tox’ar stops. “We should cross the river. Our approach’ll be hidden by the trees.”

“No,” says Naya sharply. “The orc raiding party usually camps by the river.”

Your fist clutches your sword hilt, but you nod. “The main base is our priority. But let’s eat.”

You share the rations you have. Polki produces a dried fish. With mushrooms, you soon have a stew.

Then: onwards.

Continue.

Need a reminder of how you met the band…?
