Companions are all very well, you decide, but what you really need is equipment. And for that, you need cold, hard cash.

Gold.

Weighing your axe in your hand, you hurry off down a dingy side street, and pull into the shadows. You don’t have money, nor contacts to borrow from.

But there’s another way…

Two drunken youths pass, then a serving girl.

Finally — a target. A portly merchant who doesn’t look like he could put up a fight. You follow, first down a main street, then into an alley.

*Thump*

He falls, stunned, and you escape with his purse.
