Getting Started with Cosmic Champs
This guide will provide a brief introduction to the Cosmic Champs universe and will provide instructions on how to start playing the game, set up a wallet, buy our token, and buy our NFTs.
What is Cosmic Champs?
Cosmic Champs is a fast-paced slugfest where your chosen cast of characters battle in real-time against other players in 1v1 battles. The goal is to destroy your opponent's base by any means possible before they destroy yours. The winner takes all the glory and a big bag of loot that may include cryptocurrency assets such as Cosmic Gold and NFTs.
The game is built on the Algorand blockchain and is free to play. Our aim is to make Cosmic Champs accessible to anyone that wants to play. This means no crypto wallet, tokens, or NFTs will be required. You don’t even need to know anything about crypto. When we officially launch, you’ll go to your preferred mobile store, download the game, and start playing. It’ll be that simple.
How do I play the game?
The game is currently in the beta stage so you will need an Algorand wallet to access it. This requirement is temporary while we fix bugs and add functionality. The game is currently available on iOS and Android mobile devices, and web browsers for those on PC. What does the blockchain have to do with it?
Firstly, you won’t need to know anything about blockchains (or cryptocurrency) to play Cosmic Champs. We’ve designed the game so anyone can access it as easily as any other free-to-play game currently in mobile app stores. However, we are in the closed beta stage so some knowledge of crypto is currently necessary to access the game.
Cosmic Champs is a play-to-earn real-time mobile game. Play-to-earn means that players earn cryptocurrency rewards by playing the game. These rewards can be in the form of tokens or NFTs. Players in Cosmic Champs may earn these rewards through winning battles in the game. There are many uses for our token and NFTs inside and outside of the game. These uses are described in a later section.
The major benefit of Cosmic Champs being built on a blockchain is that it empowers players by giving them true ownership of their in-game assets. In traditional games, when you buy items (assets) from a game’s shop or earn them through gameplay you can use those items or not use them — these are your only options. Once you stop using your items or playing the game they are dead assets. When those assets are stored on the blockchain (as tokens or NFTs) players have many more options available to them. They can sell them on a secondary marketplace, they can loan them to somebody else to use for a fee, or they can transfer them to a friend’s account. The value of global in-game purchases is predicted to be worth $68 billion in 2023 and most of those items are not truly owned by players. Empowering players with greater control over $68 billion worth of gaming assets is not a trivial matter.
How do I set up a crypto wallet?
A crypto wallet is necessary to store any assets that are located on a blockchain, such as tokens and NFTs. Our game is built on the Algorand blockchain so you will need a wallet that is compatible with Algorand. We recommend using Pera wallet. They offer a mobile app that makes it easy to set up and manage an Algorand wallet which can be used with the Cosmic Champs game. To set up Pera wallet download the app from your mobile app store.

How do I set up an account connect my wallet to the game?
So you’ve got an Algorand wallet and you’re keen to play. Once you’ve downloaded the mobile app to your smart device or loaded the browser version of the game, you’ll need to set up an account and connect your wallet. Don’t worry if the first time you open the app it takes longer than expected to load. That’s normal and will only happen the first time. There’s a whole bunch of extra data that needs to be downloaded.
If you’re on android…
Follow the instructions to download the mobile app at https://beta.cosmicchamps.com/play.
Once downloaded, go to your file manager and tap on downloaded file.
- Follow the prompts to install the app. If your settings don’t allow opening third-party apps, select the option to go to settings, and tap “allow from this source”.
- Tap install — the screen will show install progress.
- Once it says installed, tap “Open”. If you lose the screen, just head to your home screen, and tap on the “Cosmic Champs” icon.
If you’re on an iPhone…
Follow the instructions to download the mobile app at https://beta.cosmicchamps.com/play.
Once you’ve downloaded TestFlight and the mobile app, tap on downloaded file.
For all users
First you need to create an account and log in.
When you open the app you’ll be asked to log in. If this is your first time, you will need to create a new account. All you need is an email and a password.
Once you’ve logged in you will need to connect your Algorand wallet before you can play. Make sure you have the Pera wallet mobile app installed on your phone.
- Tap the connect wallet button in the top right corner.
This will take you out of the app to our website via your browser.
- Tap the “Connect Wallet” button
- A window will pop up asking you to select your wallet provider
- Tap the “Pera wallet” button
- It will open the Pera wallet app on your mobile. Enter your pin to log in.
- Select the wallet that you would like to connect to the Cosmic Champs game.
- Then you should see a message saying your wallet is now connected to “Cosmic Champs Beta.”
- Go back to the browser
- You will see that your wallet has been successfully connected
- Now you need to complete step 2 and sign in with your in-game credentials
- When you’ve successfully logged in you’ll see the following screen
- Restart the Cosmic Champs Mobile app and you should see your wallet address where the connect wallet button was in the top right corner.
- You can select your deck of Champs by tapping the “Deck” button.
Choose the Champs that you would like to battle with. A well rounded deck has a balanced mix of melee and shooting characters, ground and air troops, and low cost and high cost units.
Now you are ready to battle! Go back to the home screen and tap the “Battle” button. If another player is online you will be matched with them. If no human player is found after 45 seconds then you will play against an AI bot.
What does your token Cosmic Gold (COSG) do?
COSG has numerous uses in and out of the game.
Within the game:
- Used for in-game purchases such as upgrading Champs and buying powerups
- Earned through winning battles
Outside the game:
- Used to purchase NFTs on secondary marketplaces such as Algogems and Exa Market.
- Used to earn staking rewards on Cometa.
- Used to access COSG holder tier rewards.
- It is a governance token that will be used by holders to vote on important changes to the game.
Where can I get Cosmic Gold (COSG)?
You can swap ALGO for COSG on an Algorand AMM such as Tinyman, Humble, or Pact. To do this you will need an Algorand wallet and some ALGOs (The Algorand blockchain’s token). Here are instructions for doing this on Tinyman.
- Click “Connect to a wallet”
- Click “Pera Wallet”
- Click “Connect with Pera Mobile” and a QR code will appear
- Get out your mobile and login to the Pera app.
- Tap the “Scan QR” button on the right in the middle of the home screen.
- Scan the QR code on Tinyman
- Then enter the amount of ALGO you want to swap for COSG
- Click the “Swap” button
- You will see a “Sign the Transaction” screen
- Login to the Pera wallet app on your mobile and sign the transaction
- Check the transaction is from Tinyman
- Tap “Confirm All” and go back to Tinyman
- The swap has been completed and you now have COSG
- Click your wallet address in the yellow box in the top right corner
- It shows the tokens held in your wallet. You can see Cosmic Gold in the list
- When finished, click “Disconnect” to remove your wallet from Tinyman. This is a good security practice.
What do your NFTs do?
Our NFTs are the playable characters in our game. These characters are called Champs. You do not need them to play the game but the NFTs provide in-game benefits such as a boost to the battle stats and cool looking skins. This will give NFT holders a small advantage in battles. Don’t worry the benefit will be small so you will be able to beat them without NFTs if you have a better battle strategy. Each Champs has a level of rarity which indicates the size of the stats boost. In order of rarity, there is common, uncommon, rare, epic, and legendary. The colour on the stand under the Champ indicates the level of rarity.

Our NFTs can be purchased on Algorand NFT marketplaces such as Algogems, Exa Market, Rand Gallery, and ALGOxNFT. You will need an Algorand wallet and ALGO or COSG to purchase our NFTs.
