Find out if crowdfunding fits you and your project. Choose a specific and appealing project with a target amount that’s attainable within your network. You can collect money as well as help and materials. Did you know that crowdfunding also increases the notoriety of your initiative and creates committed ambassadors while showing the support you have?

Step 1: Choosing a realistic and appealing crowdfunding project

Most people find it’s more fun to contribute to new benches in the park than to pay for the annual maintenance of the lanes. And when building a new school, it’s more fun to crowdfund for school fees for the children than for the electricity bill. Crowdfunding is much easier to do when you have a fun, tangible and appealing project that people want to give money to. And it’s important that you already have people involved with the project and that you have a team you can campaign with. Read more about the four properties that make your project suitable for crowdfunding.

A realistic target amount

Choosing a realistic target amount enhances your chances of a successful campaign. During the campaign you want the progress bar to fill up and show potential supporters that it’s possible to reach 100%. This makes your contributors trust your campaign and will radiate success, which makes people want to contribute faster. But how do you determine the amount? In the end it all depends on the number of people within your network that you can urge to make a donation. They know you, they feel the project is really important or they like a cool reward. It’s also relevant how much they want to contribute. Friends, neighbors and family often donate somewhere between €5 and €50. So if you want to collect €3,000, you’ll need 100 people who will on average donate €30. Read on.

Crowdfunding is about more than just money

Crowdfunding is fun, exciting and delivers a huge kick when you achieve your target amount together. Crowdfunding enables driven idealists and enthusiasts to realize their own great ideas, without having to wait for those funding providers to come through. Crowdfunding also takes time and energy. And, compared to applying for grants and subsidies, it’s not exactly the most time-efficient way of raising money. But crowdfunding gives you so much more! Money aside, crowdfunding is first of all a powerful campaign tool that enables you to build an actively involved community, improve your awareness or help gain influence. Curious how you can achieve this? Then read on.
