Welcome to “Crypto Through the Tulips,” a Medium publication about cryptocurrency. If you are unfamiliar with “cryptocurrency,” here is a summary: In 2008, a Japanese dude wrote a paper about electronic money, which he called “Bitcoin.” At the time, all the Bitcoin in the world couldn’t even get you one lousy slice of pizza. People kept trying to buy pizza with it but they failed. After many attempts, someone finally managed to dupe a pizza delivery guy into selling him a pizza for 10,000 Bitcoin. Later, a pirate realized you could use Bitcoin to sell drugs, sex and hit men. Thanks to that pirate, you can now buy 500 pizzas with one Bitcoin. At some point in the not-too-distant future, one Bitcoin will buy an infinite number of pizzas. If you like pizza (or drugs, sex or hit men), you should buy Bitcoin.
