I can’t be the only one who gets frustrated by medical professionals gaslighting?

An injured shoulder which they think may be a broken bone now — six weeks later.

These things should not be happening, especially to people who already have disabilities.

But we have had some great stories sent in this week:

Lets start with this piece of writing by Valentina Cecilia - Valentía Crónica

Self-care and the will to live. Autistic and Chronic Illness edition | by Valentina Cecilia — Valentía Crónica | All 4 Inclusion | Jun, 2024 | Medium

A real honest and engaging story, thank you Valentina for submitting this one.

Have you ever wondered the difference between ALT text and Image Descriptions?

Firstly ALT — stands for alternative text. Both assist people who are unable to see a picture understand the image. I will leave the rest to Isaac Harvey MBE to explain in his informative blog.

Image Descriptions vs Alt Text: Why Both Matter! | by Isaac Harvey MBE | All 4 Inclusion | Jun, 2024 | Medium

Next up we look at PTSD in a gripping piece written by Edward Foster. I’m really looking forward to Edward’s next submission.

His story is titled “How PTSD nearly ended me”. Having been in the position where I’ve had to make tough decisions to carry on myself I know how it feels.

Edward is a veteran of Afghanistan and has seen things many of us can’t imagine.

Improvise, Adapt, and Overcome. How PTSD almost ended me | by Edward Foster | All 4 Inclusion | Jun, 2024 | Medium

Finally I’m going to leave you with a piece I wrote yesterday. When you have an article that has been read by many people, Medium shares with you the types of articles that your readers follow.

I wanted to share these with you as your readers are likely to follow similar articles to mine.

A letter to those who write disability related blogs like me | by Scott Whitney | All 4 Inclusion | Jun, 2024 | Medium

Once again, thank you to the fantastic writers who open and share their lived experiences in order to help us become better people.

On the publication page I’ve removed Editors Choices and left the top section to be the trending articles as per Medium. This means they update in real time instead of relying on me to do it at a weekend.

Look after yourselves and remember to share this with anyone who it will benefit.

Scott
