What do I need to start using whiteboard.chat?

  • It is very simple. From any internet connected device, like a laptop, desktop, or a tablet, open your browser and point it to https://www.whiteboard.chat.
  • No download of any software is required. No sign-up is required. No app to be installed. Just point your browser to above and you are good to go!
  • Click on “Start Drawing”. It will give you three options. Select “Start Teaching” to create your board and get started!

What do you charge for using whiteboard.chat?

  • No. Whiteboard.Chat is completely free to use and we do not charge. You do not even need to sign-up.

Does this whiteboard work on Chromebooks?

  • Yes it does. We have worked very closely with several teachers and their classes and made sure whiteboard.chat functions well on chromebooks.

How can I create a whiteboard to start teaching?

  • From any internet connected device, point your browser to https://www.whiteboard.chat
  • Select “Start Drawing”
  • Select “Start Teaching” and it will create an instructor’s board for you.

Is sign-up required to use whiteboard.chat?

  • No. No sign-up is required from teachers or from students. You do not need to register with us to start using the whiteboard.

Is it possible to require students to login before they can enter the class?

  • Yes. For this feature to work, a teacher needs to sign-up and login.
  • Once logged in, click on the “Settings” icon on the upper right and select “Only Logged in Users can join Boards”.
  • Now only students who have signed-in can join.

Can students/teachers use their google account to login?

  • Yes. They can. Once on the instructor or student board, click on the “Settings” icon on the upper right panel.
  • This will open up a dialogue where you can click on “With Google” or “With Facebook” to sign-in using your Google or Facebook accounts

What do I need to do to invite students?

  • It is very simple. You click on “Invite” on the upper right corner of the board.
  • It will open up a dialogue box and you have multiple options to invite others to your board.
  • You can either scan the QR code using your phone’s camera,
  • You can “Open Email” and it will allow you to send the link in an email,
  • You can Copy the URL and send it to participants by pasting it in any messaging like Zoom chat, Google Meet-up chat, WhatsApp etc.
  • You can also copy the Class Code and send it to students.
  • Invitees simply need to click on the link received and they will immediately join the board as students. Again, no sign-up is required.
  • Invitees can enter the Class Code under “Start Drawing”, and select Join to join the board.
