Whiteboard.chat teacher mode — create a virtual classroom to teach students anywhere
You may have already heard, https://whiteboard.chat is an elegant realtime collaboration whiteboard. This article describes how a teacher can create a virtual classroom and have a more in-person like classroom engagement using whiteboard.chat.
Whiteboard.chat can be used in two modes — Teaching and Team
Teaching mode — Starts a teacher board and one or more student boards. The Teacher can see all student boards and all students can see the teacher’s board. Students cannot see each other’s boards.
Team mode — Starts a board and shares it with several participants. All participants can view and edit the board. Everyone sees the same board.
Let’s see the steps a teacher will find very useful.
Start by clicking ‘Start Drawing’
Click “Start Teaching”
To invite students, select the Invite action at the top right of the screen:
As students start trickling in, the Roster at the top right starts to update.
Students and teachers can update their name by double clicking the randomly generated names in the bottom right corner. You can also click on the colored square next to the name to change your drawing/text color.
The teacher can select the “Grid View” to view boards of all students. This button is not available to students.
This switches the view to boards of all students. The boards automatically and immediately show any updates each student may have made to their board, along with the teacher’s content on the student’s board.
Clicking on any of the tiles in the grid view, gives the teacher the option to join the students board. There the teacher can update the student’s board one-on-one.
To return back to the teacher’s board, just click on the Goto Instructor mode.
As easy as 1–2–3 !
