TL;DR: We are pleased to invite you to attend another epic hackathon, this time in beautiful Seoul, South Korea, from September 7–9, co-hosted by our friends at Mossland. If you are an experienced Unity and/or Javascript game developer and would like to apply, please email a link to your Github to social@moss.land with the subject “Seoul Hackathon” — Deadline to apply is August 26, 2018.

The Hackathon Caravan Keeps Moving…

As you know — our VERY FIRST hackathon was in Tokyo, Japan (in May 2018), where after JUST 9 hours of hacking together code (on the Loom Unity SDK) — 7 functional DApps were created from scratch by some of the most creative Unity developers in Japan.

Next, we stopped by Beijing and Shanghai to see how some of the most talented Chinese blockchain (and game) developers deploy all sorts of creative DApps using the Loom SDK.

…and then we stopped by London to eat some fish & chips and hack some code together with London’s best developers.

After London, we also stopped by New York to kick off our first US city — also the land of Sinatra and Notorious B.I.G.

In other words — we’ve been globetrotting around the world non-stop like the Dalai Lama on Red Bull.

When you find out that a blockchain hackathon is coming to Seoul

Since we have a habit of picking some of the greatest cities in the world…

Our Next Stop Will Be: Seoul, South Korea 🌏

This time around, we are co-hosting this hackathon with our friends at Mossland.

Very recently, Mossland — the creators of a blockchain-based augmented reality (AR) game where users buy and sell virtual real estate — announced that they’re building several of their mini-services on top of the Loom SDK.

So, if you decide to attend this hackathon, remember that you are in GREAT hands 😉

What to Expect (+How to Apply to Attend)

First…

This is NOT an event for beginners.

In fact, there are…

Prerequisites for attendance:

  • Experience with game development (Unity, Cocos, JavaScript, etc.) — is a MUST.
  • Interest in building apps on Ethereum (technical knowledge not required — the Loom Network team will be at the event to help you through building your first DApp)
  • Laptop (macOS/Linux/Windows 10)
  • Energy, enthusiasm, and creativity 😎

Not to brag, but every game developer who has played around with the Loom SDK in past hackathons has raved about its ease-of-use.

So, you’ll be WELL ARMED to code up some incredible projects like this 😉

At the start of the hackathon, you will be given a copy of the Loom SDK.

…and after you are fully set up, you can begin using our game SDKs for Unity, Cocos, Phaser.js, Truffle / Web3, or JavaScript to build a DAppChain game.

The Loom SDK also comes with built-in example DApps you can simply download and run with minimal setup time.

For example…

A Unity-based side-scrolling adventure game, a social network, and browser-based games using Phaser and WebSockets are some of those example DApps that can be run out of the box.

Think of those as the “Hello World” equivalent of what’s possible with our SDK.

At the end of the event, you’ll be judged by a panel from both Loom Network and Mossland.

Other than serious bragging rights — the finalists will win exciting prizes as well as an opportunity to be hired by Loom Network (full-time or part-time) OR Mossland to build groundbreaking scaling technology for Ethereum.

Not only that, you’ll also get Moss Coins (MOC) and meals at this hackathon.

DID I MENTION FREE MEALS??!?

What lunch looks like after a productive hackathon session

How To Apply

If you are an experienced Unity and/or Javascript game developer and would like to apply, please email a link to your Github to social@moss.land with the subject “Seoul Hackathon” — Deadline to apply is August 26, 2018.

Which city should we stop by next? (+How to organize a Loom Hackathon in YOUR city)

Like I‘ve mentioned before…

So far, we’ve held incredible hackathons in:

  1. Tokyo
  2. Beijing
  3. Shanghai
  4. London
  5. New York

In addition to Seoul — we are planning on organizing a lot more hackathons all around the world.

We are interested in cities with a high density of blockchain and game developers.

So, if you are capable of co-hosting and co-organizing a Loom SDK hackathon in your city, please get in touch with us by emailing team@loomx.io 😉

See you in Seoul! 🙂
