Biweekly update 30th August — 13th September

Hello, and welcome to our all-encompassing biweekly report on IOST! We are here to keep you updated with all the recent news and events that happened within the IOST ecosystem over the past two weeks. And, for sure, a lot has happened! So let’s have a quick overview before going deeper into details.

In more than a year since the mainnet launch, the IOST development team has maintained an innovative attitude and has frequently updated and optimized its versions. The keywords for the newly released v3.3.6 of the Olympus are Security and Code Refactoring. For the first, they fixed the bug that could let a large number of malicious constructs using BigInt64Array in virtual machines exhaust the virtual machine pool, which makes the node unable to execute transactions and neither synchronize. As for the Code Refactoring, more golangci-lint options have been opened, and 19 sub-linters have been added. The release of Olympus v3.4.0 is planned for the near future. In addition, the dev team proceeded with the revision of the DeFi-related plans and the support of community developers.

What’s more, IOST partner node Sonata released the very first version of the .NET IOST SDK. This serves as an entry point to the IOST ecosystem for all the new .NET developers as well as experienced ones.

Another major update — IOST has been approved by the Financial Services Agency (FSA), the Trading platforms supervision Alliance in Japan, and will be listed on the largest compliance exchange in Japan, Coincheck. Coincheck, a major cryptocurrency exchange and a subsidiary of the Japanese financial listed company Monex Group, announced the listing of IOST. With this, IOST has become the 14th compliant token on Coincheck and the 29th compliant token in the Japanese market.

Furthermore, Pumpking Team officially launched the first Yield Farming project on the IOST chain — Pumpkin. The total supply of PPT is 2,927,232, and 95% of the total supply will be released to users through yield farming. Start your participation by creating an IOST account via Citadel. One, Sonata, TokenPocket, or Jetstream.

Apart from the mentioned above, IOST Partnered with The Dvision Network, a new blockchain-empowered virtual reality content platform. IOST is excited to work with the Dvision Network team in the area of technical assistance, business development, and marketing to further explore and exploit the potential of blockchain and VR technology combined.

By the way, IOST Foundation is shining a spotlight on talented writers in the second writing competition, in collaboration with IOST’s partner node BTCMANAGER. The winner with the best-written entry about IOST for DeFi will receive a prize of $100 and a chance to be published on BTCMANAGER — a globally leading blockchain & cryptocurrency news publication.

That’s all for today — follow us to learn more in the coming weeks!

Social encounters

On August 26, 2020, the Center for Information and Industry Development (CCID), under China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, released the 19th CCID Global Public Blockchain Technology Assessment Index, comprehensively assessing and ranking 37 well-known public blockchain projects in the world. In this evaluation period, IOST ranks FIRST in the basic technology sub-index and took third place in the overall ranking! IOST has, again, moved up a spot in the global ranking compared to the previous period.

For basic technology, IOST ranked first with a score of 111.9. This sub-index mainly evaluates the technical realization, functionality, performance, security, and decentralization as described before, categories in which IOST has obvious advantages over other public chains.

  1. World’s first decentralized scalable platform that can simultaneously support thousands of nodes and high TPS
  2. Developer friendly
  3. 0 security issues after mainnet launch
