The IOST team officially released Olympus v3.3.4 update for the IOST mainnet. Improvements such as harsh code audits and improved information logs have greatly improved the security and usability of the IOST mainnet. IOST will continue to innovate and continue to upgrade and optimize the mainnet, bringing more powerful underlying infrastructure support and good development experience to all mainnet ecosystem users.
Olympus v3.3.4 is now running steadily reaching more than 82 115 563 block height and more than 373 505 080 transactions as of June 17rd, 2020, voting ratio stably close to 29,41 %, 1,007 tokens issued and 771 smart contracts.
On May 27th, 2020, IOST held May Global Node Conference and first introduced its On-chain Governance proposal. The proposal is approved and will take effect on July 1. This mechanism will promote more decentralization in the governance and healthy growth of the IOST ecosystem.
In terms of recent collaborations, The IOST Foundation officially announced a partnership with Tweebaa, the world’s first multi-dimensional value-exchanging social networking platform. In IOST & Tweebaa will leverage on IOST existing rich resources and communities to co-create an enhanced & enriching ecosystem. This includes, and not limited to community boosting campaigns, IOST content creation, and publicity & IOST’s users to benefit from realizing and creating their values on Tweebaa.

1. Security Update

IOST — Circulating Supply Explained by the IGA
IOST On-Chain Governance Mechanism Taking Effect On July 1, 2020
On May 27th, 2020, IOST held May Global Node Conference and first introduced its On-chain Governance proposal.
The proposal is approved and will take effect on July 1. This mechanism will promote more decentralization in the governance and healthy growth of the IOST ecosystem.
Round 1: Proposal submission period
Top 30 nodes by votes and contribution scores (to be explained later) are eligible to initiate a proposal
Nodes initiate a proposal and fill in the proposal form.
There is no cap for the number of proposals submitted every quarter.
Round 2: Initial Screening Period
The first month of each quarter will be the showcase period to announce the submitted proposals and conduct an initial screening
A proposal has to pass this first round of initial screening to enter the final round
All elected nodes will each have 1 vote. If more than 50% of the elected partner nodes agree to a proposal, that proposal will enter the voting process; otherwise, it will be withdrawn.
*All elected partner nodes must vote to participate in the construction of the IOST ecosystem; otherwise, they will lose the qualification to receive the contribution rewards for the quarter.
Round 3: Final Voting Period
A. The 2nd to 3rd month of each quarter will be the voting period. When yes votes exceed 66.6%, the proposal is approved.
B. The IOST Foundation has veto power, and the proposal rejected by the foundation will automatically re-initiate the voting process. There is one exception, that is when yes votes exceed 80%, the proposal will automatically pass regardless of the IOST Foundation’s vote.
Note: The amount of voting right one node depends on its staking volume and its contribution to the ecosystem. Voting rights will be updated once every quarter. Within the quarter, changes in the node’s staking volume will not affect its voting right.

How to create a token on the IOST blockchain
IOST uses PoB (Proof of Believability).
This blockchain allows the creation of tokens, which can be IRC20, IRC21 or IRC721, the latter dedicated to NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) that have recently been added.
To do that you need:
- An IOST account with several resources like iGAS and iRAM: at least 5 IOST staked per resource;
- The iWallet, which can be found here.
The easiest way to create an IRC20 token is to access the IOSTOOL portal and connect the wallet.
At this point the interface is quite intuitive: it will be necessary to enter the data of the token, the ticker (strictly all in lowercase and without numbers), a small description, the total supply and the decimals.
After entering the data you will first have to click on the “create” button, confirm the transaction and after that click the “issue” button to finalize our transaction.
The final result can be seen on every IOST compatible blockchain explorer.
IRC20 tokens have the ability to be frozen, transferred and burned, allowing to decrease the supply.
It is possible to create a token with a few cents on this blockchain, considering that IOST is traded at about $0.003. IOST is practically accessible to everyone and without any particular difficulty.
