Biweekly update on the Cosmos ecosystem vol. 51, 16th June — 29th June
Welcome to the ‘Cosmos ecosystem biweekly’! We have a bunch of great news for you today!
These weeks there was a lot of news from the Interchain Foundation: we saw updates in ICF Foundation Council, 2021 Q1 assets and funding overview appeared, ICF Q1–2021 funding recipients were announced.
Over these two weeks, two governance proposals have successfully passed. Proposal #48 to increase the inflation rate change variable as for the network to better protect itself against unbondings & react faster when ATOM bonding ratio drops below the 66% goal. Proposal #49 was a request for comment from the ATOM community regarding the activation of the Gravity Bridge module onto the Cosmos Hub. Proposals #50 & #51 are still in the voting period. Proposal #50 is a parameter governance proposal that asks Atom delegators to allow the changes of block parameter values to extend the block capacity of the Cosmos Hub so that it can mitigate a reasonable amount of transactions processed within a block. Proposal #51 to adopt the Gravity DEX protocol onto the Cosmos Hub. Don’t forget to vote!
Blockchain developers are in demand and global spending on blockchain tech is expected to grow from $1.5B in 2018 to $15.9B by 2023. Good news is, Cosmos HackAtom HCMC workshops recordings were published. CEO and President of Tendermint, Peng Zhong, shared his view on how the cross-chain and DeFi future look for Cosmos with key projects like the Gravity DEX protocol, Gravity Bridge, and Starport during DeFi Summit fireside chat.
As for the Cosmos ecosystem news: Osmosis became the 8th Cosmos blockchain to enable IBC and the 6th chain connecting to the Cosmos Hub. Congratulations to Osmosis for a successful mainnet launch. REGEN swapping, LPing, IBC transfers are all officially live on Osmosis. Mirror V2 has officially launched — the culmination of the community’s active engagement across Mirror’s research and community channels. StaFi and Coinswap have teamed up to make their networks and assets more fully compatible with each other. A new collaboration between Terra and Secret Network will provide programmable privacy and DeFi opportunities for Terra assets via the Secret Terra Bridge. Oracle and Deutsche Bank announced a multi-year collaboration to modernize its database technology and accelerate the bank’s digital transformation. Polygon announced Avail — an important component of a completely new way on how future blockchains will work. Avail is a general-purpose, scalable data availability-focused blockchain targeted for standalone chains, sidechains & off-chain scaling solutions. The parameters will be immediately updated when this governance proposal passes.
- #51 Governance Proposal for Gravity DEX Adoption to the Cosmos Hub IN THE VOTING PERIOD
This on-chain upgrade governance proposal is to adopt the Gravity DEX protocol on the Cosmos Hub. By voting YES to this proposal, you approve of adding the Gravity DEX protocol on the Cosmos Hub.

Interchain Foundation
Updates to ICF Foundation Council
The Interchain Foundation announced that Tess Rinearson has joined the Foundation as a Council member. She is the newest member since the addition of Brian Crain and Fernando Pedone in 2020.
Jae Kwon announced his intention to retire from the position of president of the ICF to focus on engineering activities. Foundation Council member Pascal Schmid has also left his position to focus on new endeavors. The Foundation is grateful to Jae and Pascal for their services and wishes them all the best in their new endeavors. Within the new configuration of Council members Ethan Buchman has been elected President of the Foundation and Brian Crain has been elected Vice President.

2021 Q1 Interchain Foundation Assets and Funding Overview
The Interchain Foundation (ICF) announced the publication of key financial figures and funding activity for the first quarter of 2021.
ICF Q1–2021 Funding Recipients
ICF first quarter of funding proposals closed submissions on February 14th, 2021. The team reviewed the applications internally and compiled the proposals recommended by the Board of Management. These were included with comments from the Technical Advisory Board and submitted to the Foundation Council for approval. The time spent since then was on finalizing service agreements and getting the required signatures in place.
The following proposals have now been finalized and work has begun by the respective teams. This comes in tandem with the Q1 Financial Transparency Report. Applications for Q2 2021 closed May 14th. To apply for Q3 2021 please submit applications by August 14th at apply.interchain.io.
