TL;DR
- The first-ever parachain slot auction on Kusama Network has begun. According to information shared on the Polkadot governance platform Polkassembly, 13 out of the 19 seats on the Kusama council voted in favor of commencing the slot auction process. Check out an approximate schedule of Kusama parachain slot auctions in our report.
- Web3 Foundation has released its grants roundup for May 2021.
- If you are interested in building a parachain, infrastructure, or application for Polkadot, you should check out the Substrate Builders Program.
- The official bidding phase for Bifrost Kusama slots opened on June 11. Users can now participate in vsKSM minting with a total Kusama auction reward of 3,000,000 BNCs. Bifrost will not issue a canary network, all Kusama auction reward will be Bifrost mainnet token BNC. What’s more, Bifrost announces strategic partnership with MathWallet.
- Tinlake has now passed $20M Total Value locked. Altair, the Kusama parachain built by Centrifuge, will soon be launching a crowdloan for one of the first parachain slots on Kusama. OKex will support the Altair crowdloan.
- SherpaX 2+1 joint testnet has been launched. SherpaX is the canary network of ChainX, an experimental, authentic, and independent R&D network. SherpaX and ChainX are highly similar in design, and some new technological innovations and attempts will be pre-experimented on SherpaX before being deployed to ChainX. After several months of hard work, the three development teams of ChainX finally finished three important products.
- Moonriver crowdloan is officially open and is accepting contributions from the community. As of now, the crowdloan can be accessed in two ways: through a DApp built by the Moonbeam Foundation or through participating exchanges.
- The Dawning has arrived — evolution land by Darwinia Network got a new, the fourth Continent based on the HECO Chain, named Dawning on June 9. Moreover, Jambo Network and Darwinia Network have signed a strategic partnership.
- Shiden has started its Kusama Parachain Lease Offering. KSM holders can lock their KSM for Shiden Network through Polkadot.js, Fearless Wallet, MathWallet, or exchanges. Stake Technologies, the core company behind Plasm Network and Shiden Network, announced a $10M fundraise.

- Genshiro PLO went live on June 15. The W3F Grant is completed and the Curve implementation to be launched on Genshiro first, canary network on Kusama. Genshiro integrates Chainlink price feeds in its NFT tokens.
- Dock’s proof-of-stake network went live last week! The team will transition the current PoA mainnet to PoS once the security audit and testing activities are successfully completed.
- HydraDX introduced Basilisk — a liquidity bootstrapping protocol designed to operate as a parachain in Kusama. Basilisk is not a mere canary network — it is an independent chain which has the mission to enable frictionless liquidity bootstrapping for new crypto assets.
- In May, Zenlink made good progress in technology development and community operation. The Zenlink team has decided to postpone the launch of Zenlink SlotVault, and it is expected that it will not be launched during the first parachain slot auction.
- Сrust Network has published Crust Shadow Lightpaper. Crust Shadow is a canary network of Crust Network. It is designed to be a Kusama parachain, and will participate in Kusama’s slot auctions. The Crust Shadow Crowdloan for the upcoming Kusama Parachain auctions is now live. Also, Jambo Network and Crust Network have signed a strategic partnership.
- The estimated time of the Robonomics crowdloan launch is 28 June.

The first real-world functional parachain, Statemine, began processing permissionless transactions after an on-chain upgrade. After some smooth running, the time is coming to move to the next stage: slot auctions. Here is the recommendation for how Parachain auctions should be rolled out in the coming weeks.
As it was announced, the approximate schedule of Kusama parachain slot auctions will be as follows:
- 2021/06/15, 12:00 GMT: First Kusama Parachain Slot auction.
- 2021/06/17, 09:00 GMT: First Kusama Parachain Slot auction ending period begins. Only bids made prior to this point will certainly be considered in the final result. Bids made following this point have a linearly reducing chance of being considered.
- 2021/06/22, 09:00 GMT: First Kusama Parachain Slot auction bidding ends. No bids may be made on this auction following this point.
- 2021/06/22, 11:00 GMT: First Kusama Parachain Slot auction winner selected. The auction winner is determined as the highest bidder at some randomly selected point over the past five days.
- 2021/06/22, 12:00 GMT: Second Kusama Parachain Slot auction commences.
- 2021/06/29, 12:00 GMT: Third Kusama Parachain Slot auction commences.

Roadmap
Current Phase: Parachain Rollout
The launch of Polkadot began a year ago with the first four phases; the last — a move to complete decentralisation and permissionlessness — happened finally at the end of July last year. Now, phase five, the final phase in the launch of Polkadot is beginning.
Before being enabled by Polkadot’s network governance, parachains will be tested and optimized both on parachain testnets and on Kusama. Once the code has been fully tested, audited and benchmarked, and parachains are running smoothly on Kusama, Polkadot governance can enable parachains and begin parachain slot lease auctions. Parachain slots will be auctioned one-by-one, with each auction lasting about two weeks.
