Desert Gigolo

There are no edges out here.
Not in the desert.
There are few surprises and even less time
to capitulate on one’s maligning moments…

Essentia

For you, the dawn is pausing — 
sheltered as you are beneath
karma’s antecedents 
and cosmic reprieves.

Perennial

I wear your perennial coat, always.
Brilliant colours
with soft downy feathers;
its deviant lines
I hug to keep in
the warmth of my life.

Demitasse

An espresso, please…
Unsweetened is just fine, thank you.
I’ve been good, although
I feel quite again the fool
to revisit my insomniac…

Cold Sand

What would you have me say?

Shadows, not footprints
stain the winter-dressed, 
glimmering sand.

Nye Sevodnya

Don’t let your eyes deceive
for old time’s sake;
Cigarettes, pool and coffee
sustain us, yet again.
Doversya v mne!
Taste the night…

Falling Imperfections

She was once a pebble
in a wearisome cast,
a child
waiting to be woken
in the warmth of a new home.

Enamel

There was whiteness in his heart.
Looking down, we felt

its nothingness, like a sun scorched 
silence
so hot and bright, our aroha
ached within its light.

Skewbald

Pigeons take flight
to unsolicited advances,
as Trotskyite carriages clang by,
banality imposes.
Commuter discomfort
buffered by headphones;
eclectic, sonic vibrations 
to carry me home.
Time-lapsed impressions -
another muggy day.
Passionless limbo whilst seated
on a skewbald coloured train.
