The past few weeks have been action-packed with new releases across the board. Our trip advisors and developers successfully released Terabethia’s brand new UI, introduced the Psychedelic Neuron, and unveiled the latest updates for Plug and Cover.

Keep reading to find out more about what we have been up to.

Plug’s Double Upgrade

Plug cracked August open with not one, but TWO fresh updates! Our trip advisors worked tirelessly to squash pesky bugs and bring Network Selection capabilities to the Plug web extension. The feature allows developers to switch off the IC mainnet, work directly onto a local replica, and see updates made to locally deployed canisters reflected in the extension UI.

Users can now:

  • Add & manage custom tokens that have been deployed to the local replica.
  • See account names with more than 24 characters
  • Receive detailed & human-readable error alerts
  • Stop worrying about incorrectly displayed Sonic logs

Download the latest version of Plug (0.5.4) from the Chrome Web Store and Firefox Add-on Store, or download it directly from GitHub!

Cover: A Custom-built experience

The cover floodgates opened this month after we increased support for different canister ownership options. Before this release, developers needed to submit a canister ID and link to a GitHub repo representing the code installed on the provided canister ID — a tedious and highly manual process.

With the new release, we’ve:

  • Enabled users to submit their own custom builds
  • Opened Cover to accept WASM from anyone’s builder
  • Added icons to the 🚦indicators for increased clarity on verified, pending, and unverified canisters
  • Allowed developers to submit canisters that they control via proxy canisters or cycles wallets
  • Added configurable auto-refresh settings so users can stay up to date with canister statuses

Terabethia: A Brand New Testnet UI

After months of anticipation, Terabethia’s testnet UI has arrived! With this release users can bridge and swap testnet versions of ETH, wETH, and USDC from Ethereum to the IC and back.

We chose these tokens due to their wide usage and relevance to the Ethereum ecosystem, and will be expanding Terabethia’s bridging functionality to any ERC-20 token after the upcoming mainnet launch.

Head over to https://testnet.terabethia.xyz/, connect your Metamask & Plug wallets, and start swapping your tokens!

TownHall Series

In August, the Psychedelic TownHall series continued, as the team unveiled our latest product updates and the roadmap for a new product suite: Psychedelic Games.

TownHall 03

We teamed up with DSCVR to discuss upcoming product releases such as Terabethia’s Testnet UI and Sonic’s highly anticipated automatic token addition feature. There were serious talks about a proposal to bring Websockets to the IC, which would be essential to releasing key product features such as notifications for Plug, or an automatic price feed for Sonic.

TownHall 04

For our fourth town hall, we brought on Mason and Devin of Psychedelic Games — a new GameFi division developing three Web3 games in the upcoming months. They shared the excitement about the future of MetaSports, as well as an upcoming pirate-themed adventure game with real rewards, and a third-person shooter game with a title yet to be announced!

The team also discussed CAP’s scaling capabilities and Psychedelic’s role in the ecosystem with the recent launch of its own neuron.

Head over to the Psychedelic Twitter to listen to the town hall recordings if you haven’t tuned in!

Announcing our Neuron

Lastly, we took our first steps towards becoming a community steward by announcing the launch of our own Psychedelic Neuron.

The neuron will allow us to take a more active approach to move community initiatives forward and enable our community to voice its opinions on upcoming initiatives, like bringing Websockets or the DIP-20 standard to the IC.

Initially, we’ll be publishing a first proposal to add the Psychedelic Neuron as a followee and a second one to request DFINTIY to make the IC’s Management Canister’s status method public.

For a detailed vision on our neuron and our upcoming proposals, read the blog here.

That’s all for today! We’ll see you back in October for another trip report. 🍄
