3 Months of Developer Advocacy

My my! Three months goes by so fast when you’re busy working with the community of Samebug to improve the community experience. So, this feels like a great opportunity to report to you all to reflect on what’s been achieved in these three months. I outlined a lot of things in my first post as Developer Advocate, so I’d like to take the opportunity to talk about what I’ve done.

Sample Onboarding Training

The first thing that myself and the Samebug team worked on together was developing a set of onboarding training in the form of sent out to new users of Samebug to familiarise them with the platform. We broke these down into seven emails. The first email was an introduction welcoming you to the platform. The second email we discussed the benefits of using Samebug over a traditional search engine. The third email talked about our integrations. The forth email talked about Samebugs’ approach to privacy. The fifth email talks about how to write your first tip. The sixth email talks about the value of Bugmates and finally the last email talks about your profile.

These onboarding emails are the first iteration of these, so we’re always looking for feedback on these emails. If you received them, let me know in the comments down below! We’re always looking for ideas for content for training. Your feedback is always appreciated so if there is anything we haven’t covered that you think we should, or if you haven’t received them and would like to, please let us know by reaching out at community@samebug.io.

Another thing we’ve implemented (as per the outline of my original plan) is keeping you more up to date in our process of development. With our Product News blogs, you get up to date on what has been going on in our Product Sprints. So far we’ve covered; Integration & UI, Writing Tips that Matter, Profile Updates and appreciating Experience and Workspace Updates.

I’ve also created a Slack group where the community, however, we’re still in the process of testing how that would work practically. So, we will keep you updated as we have more information on it! We want to make sure it’s a perfect tool that serves its purpose. So we appreciate your patience while we work to iron out some of the rough edges.

I’ve also been working on our social media presence. As you’ll notice we’ve had daily content on our Twitter, while on our LinkedIn and Facebook Pages we’ve had our Product Blog and on our Instagram I’ve been posting fun pictures on the adventures of the Samebug team (like my trip to San Francisco!).

I’ve also been reaching out to members of the Java community both here on Medium and on Twitter to see if anyone would like to guest blog on Samebug or talk about the platform. So, don’t be surprised if you receive an email from me in the next while! However, if you’d like to guest blog talking about a topic of your choice, please feel free to email me on laura.fagan@samebug.io.

As you can tell, a lot was done, but there is a lot more to do.

I look forward to keeping everyone up to date with more as we move forward. If you have any questions, don’t forget you can contact us at community@samebug.io and if you liked this blog don’t forget to give it a clap, and share it on your favourite social media.
