Despite the perception that women over fifty no longer care about sex, and their desires disappeared as soon as menopause began, it couldn’t be further from the truth. Not only are older women still interested in the great sex they enjoyed in their younger years, they are still quite sexually active.

What has changed, however, is the problems that may come with their sexual desires.

“One of the most powerful things a woman can do is reclaim her agency over her pleasure and orgasms.” — Catherine Balsam-Schwaber

According to a survey of over 600 women at least 50 years old conducted by vaginal health company Kindra, 70 percent still very much enjoy sex, and the company’s sexuality expert Dr. Juliana Hauser, Ph.D., says there is absolutely nothing unusual about that.

“I have found in my own private practice that good sex does not end after a certain age, it evolves,” Hauser explained. “There are practical things women can do to become their own sexperts and reclaim their sexuality as they age to make sex more fulfilling, pleasure more abundant, and orgasms more potent — better than ever.”
