Ten months ago, I finished my 10-week Investment banking internship. Going in, I was pretty sure this is what I wanted to do with my life. When I got back to school in the fall, one thing was certain: I was never going back to banking again.

Great read Sarah. It’s so true that startups need to know what goes on behind the curtain. Just to expand on one of your points. LPs are typically large foundations, pension funds and the amount they invest with VCs, although nominally large, is a tiny percentage of their total assets under management. So, of course, many won’t be involved in…

We first met Logan and John, Lyft co-founders, in August 2011 when we led the Series A financing. Many things were different about the company then — it was called Zimride, the value proposition was that of an…
“Beautiful”, “Magical”, “Gorgeous”! I just want to know when and how the technology media got into this habit of using lofty superlatives to describe technology gadgets. Failing that, why journalists and bloggers think it’s acceptable!
We all use instant messaging, and yes; there are plenty of apps for that.
We use instant messaging with friends, family and with our co-workers. It’s the easiest way to communicate, and deliver information.
Interesting.…. If you were paying $4,482 for gas for your car, then paid $4,655.79 for Uber, before Uber’s cut. Assuming the intention here is to compare apples to apples, how does an Uber drive make money? Unless one gets discounted gas or drives a tesla, why would anyone want to be an Uber driver? I think this experiment further validates the notion Uber is great for the consumer but terrible for the drivers.
True ! Do we have more examples around the world where we see this happening ?
Great article! Thank you for sharing this with us and for making things much more clear to understand and adopt.
Just imagine if back in the days people would have patented binary search trees, linked lists or hash maps …
Time is the coin of your life. It is the only coin you have, and only you can determine how it will be spent. Be careful, lest you let other people spend it for you.

If it is, I think there is an article on Gamasutra about crunching and productivity.

I have to admit, I tried hosting my own blog for quite some time, first with WordPress, and then with Ghost. Neither one really suited my needs, because with an independently-hosted blog, I had little to no readership. That’s when I switched to Tumblr, which almost instantly bumped my audience up a notch, but seemed somewhat limited in terms of its…
I don’t know if you realise it or not, but you are the sort of guy they could replace with a robot, using a scorecard for emotional things is what they would do. I have arguments with my son on that subject.

This is extremely good advice and sage details for how to treat people in general when we are networking. We all network. Whether we try to or not.

An absolutely unbeatable gift
One of the most anticipated vehicles of 2014 was neither a pony nor a hellcat, nor was it a pickup or a crossover. It was one of the most fun, affable, and tech-savvy vehicles on the road, and it’s been earning rave reviews from drivers and critics alike since it hit the streets — the 2015 Honda…
When I went to uni, pretty much no one knew how to use adobe or had a very basic understanding of it. What we learnt in uni was basic technical skills, most of what I know now is continual use of the software. In class demo are a great starting point, particularly when we are nervous and don’t know anything. It’s good to have a tutor on hand, in case…
its great i love it
Great article Jennifer. As the invisible digital hand becomes more pervasive, it’s likely that some will find advantage in their ability to build real relationships and actually understand the actual who and why behind the data. The beauty of the internet is its collective power to adapt in response to the way it is built and operated by those that believe they can control it.
It is the best choice!
While compact cars tend to offer high fuel economy ratings and terrific performance, many consumers are hesitant when it comes to safety in these small cars — unless they purchase the 2015 Honda Fit. The spacious subcompact hatchback was recently awarded a Five-Star Overall Vehicle Score from the Honda…

I think that proves my point. IT professionals are reviled by their clients because of the attitude upon which I am commenting. The job requires dealing with and understanding clients, not complaining about them. The fact that you fail to see how the author resents his clients only demonstrates the problem. Being an IT professional is about much more…
