Offering a new product that meets the users’ needs is not the only way to strengthen a market. Users are interested in watching the project grow, knowing that the company is interested in continued innovation, and materializing that into better services or products.

Thinking that an initial product will go viral because it meets the needs of a niche is a myth. If you think there is a technical gap after the product launch, I think it’s time to reflect on the maintenance of software applications.

Put Added Value on a Pedestal

An initial product tries to be as accurate as possible, but, guess what? It’s nearly impossible to have it perfectly fit the needs of a user that keeps changing and acquiring new tastes and demands. Therefore, adjustments are necessary, and that’s why keeping the product updated is valued.

The user must be our number one priority and we must show them that, how? Understanding what else they would like to have included in our product or service, and thus becoming more valuable.

Keep it Simple

It is advisable to start with a simple product developing new features increasingly suitable to the user’s needs once on the market. A product that, instead, hits the market loaded with features but has no changes made to empathize further with the user and consequently has a lower chance of succeeding.

Opportunity Cost

The entrepreneur’s resources are often limited. Therefore, many times we must choose one feature over another one. I don’t think this is a bad thing but rather, it’s actually positive because every pending feature will have the chance to be included once it’s time to update and iterate the application.

These are essential steps to ensure the positioning of a product or service in the market. Some choose to carry them out, and some do not. The difference is seen in the results.
