This is a continuation of Hunting a Demon, a Choose Your Own Adventure Story started by JF Danskin and written in drabbles and double-drabbles. Find out more here, or return to the previous chapter: ‘The Fish Warrior’.

Something tells you not to trust the fish-warrior. “You are lying, Finnart, you say bluntly, hand on sword. “I think you betrayed your partner. Perhaps you sold him out to Impachik to save your own scaly ass.”

He hisses with anger, but you just glare. You’re a hero, what can go wrong? He’d be well out of his depth to tangle with you…

“Apologise, human,” Finnart snarls. “I was always a fine warrior. Finer than any of your species.”

You laugh out loud at this. “Time to diversify your thinking, fool,” you shoot back. “Or return to eating flies.”

Continue.

Thanks for reading! This drabble responded to one of Grim Flandango’s daily word prompts (‘diversify’).
