You hurry towards the gates. “Henk, we need to get the hell out of here and rescue your daughter!”
“That demon’s controlling her mind.” The man is calm, but sounds defeated.
“We can get through – I’ve done it before.”
“Well…”
You rattle the gates. Strong. Locked. With your knife, you pry at the hinges, but to no avail…
Taking a different approach, you clamber up. It’s topped with lethal spikes. But with your chain mail…
You wriggle out of the armor and cover the spikes. “We can clamber over now!” you call.
“I’ll follow.” There’s no hope in Henk’s voice.
