A Lesson in Language: Taking on the World

#60M2IM Day 21/100

60 Months to Ironman

Funny enough, I had one big take away from this writer’s conference I’ve been at this week that has me on fire about 60 Months to Ironman.

I don’t get to keep saying/thinking that I’m just not an athlete anymore.

When I was an athlete, I put three hours a day into it (at least.)

Since then? Approximately zero hours a day. For thirty years.

I mean, there have been bursts of effort. But nothing sustained. Nothing consistent. Except my language.

I keep telling myself what I can’t do. So I don’t do it. And I don’t do it. And I don’t do it.

And it just becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Enough with that.

I am an athlete damn it.

Just a baby beginner athlete.

I’ll get where I want to go, as long as I keep walking forward.
