💡If you need a way to receive payments more privately and safely,
and don’t have the time to open another bank account,

please read my article on more private ways to use PayPal below,
to help you in the meantime:

Also, I have used both Google and Perplexity AI to do research for this article and provide sources.

Artificial intelligence apps and tools can help victims of abuse do research faster and more effectively.

Broad Topic and Some Ideas for Abuse Victims:
-Here’s a broad topic article on using
AI Apps for Victims of Domestic Violence and Stalking.

📝NOTE:

Currently, This and its related articles at the bottom are incomplete.

These article will still offer some help to those dealing with severe stalking and domestic abuse.

Please do your own research on EVERYTHING you read here,

⚠️ and double check everything with a professional:
lawyer, banker, tax consultant, C.PA. and or accountant

I am sometimes writing from memory and discussions I’ve had with bankers.

I usually have sources for you to look at though to make this easier for you.

Please remember:
Your state, country and bank, may have different rules and laws too.

I don’t know what your threat model (what your abuser is able and willing to do) and or situation, hence, why I offer all these options as potential ideas for you.

✅ Here’s a list of Online Legal Services that May be of help:

Photo by Tingey Injury Law Firm on Unsplash

→Best Online Legal Services by Forbes:

The best online legal services offer a timely and affordable way to set up your limited liability company (LLC), corporation or nonprofit while also ensuring you remain compliant with filing rules and regulations.

You can also use an online legal service provider to help you file your employer identification number (EIN), create legal partnerships, draft business contacts and protect your intellectual property through trademarks and copyrights.

Some companies even offer live consultations with licensed attorneys.”

Why is this incomplete for you all?

Photo by Delaney Van on Unsplash

I still have alot of struggles with my own life.
This blog is still just a passion project, for now.

I also have limited time to to double check and verify everything.

📝 Why it Can Still HELP You:
None the less, it is more information than I had,
more options than I knew existed when I escaped.

📝These (albeit incomplete articles) will still help you ask better questions and save you some research time.

Generally Speaking, you will have to ask around at different:

Banks, Credit Unions, Mailing services, PO Boxes,

and

Virtual: Mailing, Banking and Virtual address companies

and see who can be connected to who and for what, how it would work.

Some Good Privacy and Security Questions to Ask:

Photo by Laurin Steffens on Unsplash

Always ask

  • What is Publicly Available Information.
  • Ask who can access information (about you the owner) and what information that person would need to access it/your account
  • Ask what options there are to make this more difficult,
if a note can be placed on the account to warn employees
  • Research (with Perplexity AI and Google),
to see what can end up on a data broker site.

✅also, get a good data removal service too.

Unknown Banking Risks

Photo by Eduardo Soares on Unsplash

⚠️ For example,
opening up a regular bank under your name,
will eventually end up on a people finder site
→⚠ (your name, the city, state and possibly address registered with it).

To protect Yourself from this:

🔓At Minimum,
you will have to opt out of any data sharing and vendor sharing options.

-Look online and call the bank about this too.

✅also, get a good data removal service!

🔒At Most,

you can enter an ADCON (Address Confidentiality Program with your state)

ask your bank about this and how it works.

Business Bank Accounts

Impact: (with an L.L.C.)
When people write you a check, they are writing it to the name of the L.L.C., which has its own E.I.N. number
(an E.I.N. its the equivalent of a Social Security Number for a Business).

It (the llc) becomes a separate entity from you.

(just keep in mind, most L.L.C.’s have varying levels of public information available and there are tax implications you will need to follow too).

✅Likely, you will need and want to talk to a:

-Lawyer
-Tax consultant and or an
-Accountant/C.P.A.

to make sure you are abiding by all laws and rules.

L.L.C.’s

(What is and LLC? What Are some of the benefits are discussed by Nerdwallet.)

-L.L.C. is likely the best, such as an anonymous LLC
(although this may be more difficult).

  • Having a registered agent helps too
(you can send the mail to a different address this way)

“Doing Business As” and it’s Privacy Benefits for Victims:

Photo by Ryoji Iwata on Unsplash

If you have a regular L.L.C., one way to make it more anonymous is to use a D.B.A. (doing business as)-“also known as a trade name, fictitious name, or assumed name”

-Here’s another article on how D.B.A.’s work, requirements and implications, by Northwest Registered Agent you should check out too.

This creates another layer of separation.

→Check out the book: “How to Disappear: Erase Your Digital Footprint, Leave False Trails, And Vanish Without A Trace”.

More on DBA’S

“A DBA could allow you to register a different name in that area and operate under that alias.

If you want to enter an entirely new line of business, a DBA can facilitate that as well.

There are plenty of companies that operate a variety of brands with a DBA name, while the parent company oversees them all”

www.harborcompliance.com

If your a Non for Profit:

If you have a non for profit,
there are ways to structure it to make your ownership more private to the public.

I do not know all these steps though nor how that works.

The other option you have are S-Corps.

Sole Proprietorship

(Some disadvantages of them are mentioned by Forbes)

From my limited research,
this offers more anonymity than having a regular bank account under your name.

Privacy Protection:

a) Protecting Your Name:
“If you’re operating your business as a private individual — either as a sole proprietor or as part of a partnership — then a DBA can protect your privacy.

If you advertise your real name all over town, you’ll find catalogs and postcards filling up your mailbox in no time.

Your phone will begin ringing off the hook — not from customers, but because everyone is trying to sell your “business” something it needs.

It won’t be long until you’ll wish you had set up a DBA.”

b) Protecting Your Name with Receiving and Making Payments

“Can I use my DBA name on checks?

Yes, setting up a DBA checking account allows you to use your DBA name on checks you hand out. This gives an air of professionalism when working with new and established clients.”

However, not nearly as much as an Anonymous LLC would.

Regular LLC vs Sole Proprietorship In Terms of Privacy Protection?

I have been researching this for about 30 minutes and can not get a clear answer as I skim articles.

So, I will just provide some articles here for you to look at so you can do more research yourself

(sorry!)

My thoughts were that a regular LLC, likely has options that could offer more anonymity than a sole proprietorship, given you can have a registered agent or multiple members.

But, again, please do your own research and find out for sure for yourself:

Addresses

Private Mail Box Services:
What I like about private mail box services, is it offers another layer than just using USPS.

They do give your information to the federal government, however, as far as the public is concerned, you have now one more layer between your information (with USPS), and the public (the middle man being the Private Mail Box)

Layers of Separation →USPS: (name and info) —( Private Mail Box) — -The public/clients

You can add another layer, by using the private mail box as your last address,
or by asking the private mail box to forward your mail to another address.

Example:
→Client/Public/Friend
(in State/city A) sends mail to

→your Private Mail box (in a different city or even different state B)

→then you have this mail forwarded from there to a Virtual Mailbox or Business Address (in State C)

Location C, remains unknown to the public/client/friend.
Location C, may be where you live.

This last location, you can pick up the mail, and bring it back home!

The more layers you have between your name and the other person/the public, the better.

Very Basic Layer:
You can be a sole proprietor

(please check and see what risks this has though..an abuser may be able to look up the name and find out its you)

💡Look up digital nomad forums, as these are people that travel for work, and have to find ways to bank, mail, fax etc, when traveling.

Make sure to follow all laws and don’t hesitate to reach out to a lawyer, account or tax specialist when it comes to these matters.

My Goal: is turn this into a Complete Guide Article, with answers about using virtual addresses and everything else to help you.

Photo by Tech Daily on Unsplash

Nothing is completely private and anonymous.

No, I’m not worried about hackers getting into my or your bank account.

I’m worried: that someone will find out your real name, who knows your abuser.

I'm worried: that your abuser will find out where you live, a couple years after you get your new bank account (if you use a different address)

I'm worried: You will use your old address/mailing addres, or a friends, and that your abuser finds out.

One Goal here:

-Infosec and OPSEC Privacy and Security

I want to see how well these each hide your Name-Information from the person you get paid buy or pay.

At the most basic level, they do add at least one layer, by hiding your account number and some other bank details.

⚠️ First: Dangers

You can’t use any address you used in the past that your abuser/connected friends, have access to.

So, you will need to pick a new one.

Per Your New Brick and Mortar Bank Account

  • These Steps that will prevent your new bank account from being found by your abuser

State Address Confidentiality Programs (ADCONs)
Ask your bank about this. They may have not heard of it, and will have to do some research.

-Data Deletions Request:
In addition, ask your bank to perform a
Data Deletion Request.
(or something like this. I don’t know if all banks do this or not)

Essentially, this will help eliminate some of the data the public can get on you.

This SHOULD, help make it harder for Data Brrokers and other public sources from revealing where your bank account is.

Potential Banking Solutions and Alternatives

⚠️Potential Risk:

Some of these app/services will share your email and number.
Think about what information your email shares about you. Definitely keep out your last name, anything revealing your location.

Apps (receive and send money):

Cash App
-I like this uses a “cashtag”, that doesn’t have to identify you.

-I think you can choose a different “Display name”, which the other person will see, but Idon’t know if you can, or how this affects your use of the app.

  • Zelle

“Yes, Zelle shows your name, phone number/email address, and the amount when you send money.

But have in mind that Zelle will only show the name that you entered during your account set up process.

If you are not ok with Zelle showing your name when you send money, then you should consider removing or changing the name on your account profile.

  • Pay-Pal (preferably business account)

Pay Pal Business Accounts will hide alot of your personal information.

Online-Digitial Banks

Note per address Requirements:

“Another option to consider is a digital bank, also known as a neobank, online bank or mobile-only bank. These offer online accounts which offer many of the same functions as a standard checking account. You’ll manage your money online or through a mobile app.

Crucially, not all digital banks require proof of address. Most such as Revolut² and Chime simply require you to verify your identity (although Chime is only available to US citizens³).”

Non/Less Address Based Banks?

In the U.S.
https://www.compareremit.com/money-transfer-tips/bank-accounts-without-an-address-proof-in-the-us/

“Neo Banks
Neo banks or digital-only banks in the U.S. are gaining popularity amongst the tech-savvy population. Many of the digital-only or mobile-first banks have partnerships with a network of banks to facilitate their own checking and savings account facilities. Some of the popular ones are:

  • N26

(I have read mixed information about the proof of address requirements. This may work for some people though)

-I have not done any reading about the below ones.
Options are your buddy as a dv-stalking victim.

  • Monzo
  • GoBank
  • MoneyLion

For simple banking functions like everyday shopping, paying bills, sending money, splitting bills, and receiving money, it is the best option. We recommend checking with the banks for more details on the requirements.”

  • Chime

“You must have a valid Social Security number. You must be at least 18 years old to open a Checking Account. You must be a citizen or a permanent resident of the 50 United States and Washington, DC. You must use a United States Post Office-recognized residential mailing address.

  • Some of the private mail box solutions may work for this. I have to find out
