What the devs have been pecking away at, at a glance.

- The relay upgrade mentioned in SotC 14 is now complete, enabling higher throughput on smart contract requests.

- Upgrades have been implemented to the crafting system so that we can mint any NFT or SFT — important for what we’ll discuss in the meaty bit of this article.
- The dev birds have also been working on a custom system for indexing third-party NFTs to display in the Chikn dApp.

- Preparing suitable ChiknXmas presents for the community consumed the majority of the Devs’ time since the last SotC, but more on that later.
Up-Only Szn
When the last SotC dropped on October 21, things were starting to get a little spicy. The ‘Corn was up, but the market wasn’t quite sure if it was a return to regular scheduled programming.
Since then, the hype has well and truly come back.
We’ve already seen one of the first early bull market rotations from BTC into major cap altcoins. Solana led the charge here, but that liquidity quickly spun out into other alt L1s and L2s. Avalanche was no exception to this, seeing a massive pump across the ecosystem — more than $17 million in volume rushed through the red chain’s NFT marketplaces last month. Chikn saw a piece of this action, with our native marketplace seeing more than $150,000 in volume in November alone.
In the last week or so, there was another little launch that helped secure the Red Chain’s place in the collective consciousness.
Is it too early to say Gribbly and Wojak put Avalanche back on the map?
We don’t think it is. So we’ll go ahead and say it.
This uptick in interest in Avalanche has seen thousands of new wallets enter the ecosystem, more trades on NFTs, SFTs and fungible tokens, and more social media interest.
Will the run keep going? Who knows. But it definitely feels like we’re so bok.
Hyperspace Listing
You can’t discuss the spike in Avalanche NFT volume without mentioning the new kid and/or big dog on the scene, Hyperspace. Of the ‘more than $17 million in volume’ that came through Avalanche NFTs in the last month, Hyperspace saw around $16 million of it. Not too shabby!
As we discussed on Top of the Bok and in our recent Bok Bok, we’re in talks with the Hyperspace team and Avalabs to enable trading points on certain Chikn NFTs. This has been an extended discussion during which we’ve patiently observed the impact of Hyperspace. While we don’t agree with the platform’s stance on creator royalties, we’d be doing the community a disservice by staying out of the largest NFT marketplace and airdrops on the chain.
With Season 2 of Hyperspace rewards underway we’re looking forward to some good news on this front. Let’s see if we can’t get some rewards for our coq traders in Season 3.
Jade Liquidity
Speaking of rewards — an archetypal journey for Chikn OGs is to have come from Jade — a project that stung a lot of investors and left a bitter taste in many mouths. After the project’s initial collapse, their team decided to set up what has become a legitimate DAO that decided to distribute the treasury to token holders.
The first Jade treasury redemption went down on November 8 and saw significant payouts to holders, removing a lot of the bitterness from the whole experience. Chikn saw the immediate impact of the first release, Roostr floors getting swept and $EGG and $FEED making some solid moves.
We respect the Jade DAO’s efforts to make investors whole, and thank them for their contribution to the health of the roost 🫡
The Coq in All of Us
This week, magic happened.
Lightning in a bottle, a zero to one moment.
Up there with the advent of fire, and the invention of automobiles.
The $COQ was released.
Launched by esteemed community leaders Wojak Satoshi and Gribbly, this may be the most important token of the year.
What began as a flurry of coq jokes at the 2023 Avalanche Summit in Barcelona has quickly become a meme of unfathomable proportions.
For months the coq inu meme coin boiled away in the hive mind of the chikn community, and when mimetics master Wojak Satoshi made the call, Gribbly knew the time was right.
The Chikn team got the heads up no more than 48 hours ahead of time. We supported the efforts but knew these two gentlemen had the vision and the drive. Never for a second did we doubt this launch being fair and transparent.
Both Gribbly and Wojak are respected, trusted and true masters of their crafts. They’re committed Chikn farmers and Avalanche community leaders, so we all had a good feeling about this one.
Acting on intuition, they hustled together the launch. What followed was a truly serendipitous series of events.
The memes began flowing, the excitement on Twitter was building, and the organic community began to rally. Heads were turning. With the markets on Avalanche already looking primed and Bonk going ballistic on Solana, the timing couldn’t have been more favourable.
Then Gribbly pulled the jackpot: the 0x420 contract from on-high, and we knew that the meme gods had blessed us.
A slight hiccup with LP before launch had our adrenaline pumping, but the legends at TraderJoe were on standby to support Gribbly and Wojak to launch.
Then boom. Launch. Zero to one. The singularity.
Degens furiously refreshed TraderJoe to try to get an entry as $COQ went live.
As it turns out, it was more than just the coop trying to fill their bags.
We held in collective bated breath. All eyes glued to the charts. Bags packed.
And we couldn’t believe our eyes.
It just. Kept. Growing.
The fair launch, market conditions, mimetics and powerful Chikn community converged in a beautiful symphony of degeneracy.
Quickly the unique wallet count rocketed, the Twitter feeds exploded, and liquidity began pouring into Coq. But it didn’t stop there.
We all quickly realised this was the start of something much bigger.
Today, only a week later, we are standing abreast of one of the biggest surges across the Avalanche network in years.
While $COQ can’t take all the credit for this — the strong narrative behind Avalanche primed the entire chain — it certainly seemed to be the turning point: a reason for fresh capital to migrate.
A slew of new coins from builders and NFT collections, or announcements thereof, rippled across the network. Meme coins across the board exploded. Gaming and DeFi both saw huge upticks and the entire ecosystem is now absolutely humming.
And this inevitably began turning heads from outside Avalanche. Since launch, thousands of traders and investors from Eth, Solana, Polygon and more have converted to the Church of Emin — the home of the coq.
$COQ has gone from strength to strength since launching, achieving an absolutely jaw-dropping ATH market cap of around $50 million at time of writing, in less than a week after launching. Who knows where it could go from here?

As we’ve stated before, and legally must do again, the Chikn team had nothing to do with the launch of Coq. As we hope you understand, Chikn needs to keep some official distance from it, too. Crypto in general lives amidst regulatory uncertainty and we must walk a strict line in our official jurisdiction.
Although it goes without saying, this doesn’t mean we don’t love and support both Gribbly and Wojak and, of course, the $COQ movement. Everyone in our community knows these two farmers well, and time and time again people have testified to their integrity and kindness. In the cut-throat world of PVP crypto, this is very rare. They are both part of the fabric that makes Chikn what it is, and we’re humbled by their decision to honour the flock with $COQ.
We are still figuring out the best routes to support the incredible gift that is $COQ. But perhaps the best thing to do is exactly what we have been doing for the past 2 years: fostering an amazing community, empowering them with tools and releasing fun stuff to play with.
$COQ is an amazing gateway into the world of Chikn. The bird’s out of the cage now and we simply must be the wind under its wings.
This is a huge win for every Chikn farmer and a testament to the power of community and organic growth.
If you do decide to participate in the memecoin circus, make sure you do so responsibly. Price may rise, price may fall, but Chikn is forever.

A Few New Friends
The renewed interest in Avalanche NFTs saw some big names from CT circling the coop. Notably, we saw the chad WSBChairman enter Discord and take an interest in the happenings of the farm.
At the same time, Sherbok and OneThirdNerd have been continuing their work on the Polygon beat, drumming up interest from high-profile influencers and communities. A massive shoutout to 13N for his work on this front — he’s taken to his new role as Partnership Coordinator like a chikn to $FEED.
While qualitative data and anecdotes are nice, we’ve also been monitoring our social metrics closely to see if this has been driving actual eyes to Chikn. Impressions and engagement rates are up and the follower count that has been steadily increasing over the last year has seen a decent jump.
On this front, our strategy has been going well. We’ve been trying to avoid the trap of unsustainable bull euphoria blinding us and instead focused on a long-term plan of consistent content (and regular sh*tposts).
More memes, more communication, more vibes.
Like a well-cooked brisket, it takes time — but glory-be is it worth the wait.
We’re excited to continue welcoming new users from other ecosystems into the coop, and we’re keen to build stronger relationships with our peers on Avalanche. We have an incredible community on AVAX, and together we can make red coin great again 🔺
ChiknX Partner Rewards

We’re talking Partner Rewards.
For two years we’ve built a strong circular in-game economy, but we know the buck doesn’t stop there. From the start, players have been building toward an end goal, domination in CoqFight being one of them. Today, we reveal another one of these endpoints; something that helps us realize our goal of an entire metaverse built around Chikn.
Partner Rewards enhances the ecosystem by building brand recognition and growing the user base across many projects and chains. It’s also an opportunity to reignite interest in Foraging from our existing player, tempting them to send their birds out into the farm.
The best part is that this effect synergises with our partners, by bringing the power of the Chikn user base to their ecosystem. Through entangling our rewards, each partner has a game loop to entice Chikn players to their ecosystem, and similarly, their rewards will bring their native players over to the coop. This is a win-win situation which serves to drive engagement across Avalanche and beyond.
The crux of Partner Rewards is simple.
- Forage for resources
- Craft partner NFTs in-game
- Use or redeem those NFTs in the partner ecosystem

We’re also working on tutorial content to make this all a little easier to digest, but if you’ve got questions, hop in the Discord and give the community a bok.
For the hardcore farmers, all the data will be available via the updated Foraging API endpoints.
You’ll also be able to glean what you need from the Appendix documentation.
The current roster of partners are providing native assets, which means you can use them as soon as you mint them. No extra redemption process, just straight NFTs, baby.
Our first four partners are names you’re all no doubt familiar with: MadSkullz, Love Monster, Rain Labs and Hatchy Pocket. Some we’ve worked with before, others are fresh partnerships, but all are well-known in the roost and have a decent overlap with our current community.
This is important in the early stages, as you’ll still need a FarmLand and a bird to forage with, but we’re hard at work on the rest of the ChiknX plan to give everyone an inroad without dropping the big bucks on an OG bird.
A taste of the honey, etc. etc.
Our first four partners are coming on board with thousands of NFTs being introduced to the ecosystem and our players. If you have a bird and a FarmLand, you’ll be able to craft all of them using resources and native tokens.
This is the equivalent of millions of $EGG burned through redemptions, as well as all the $FEED, $FERT, and $WORM that gets scorched along the way.
So, what will this look like in-game?
A new tab will appear in your Foraging module with partner recipes available.
Simply amass and use the requisite resources and off-chain tokens to craft the item.
It’ll appear in your inventory alongside your other off-chain items.
To mint the NFT, burn some $EGG and $WORM — just as you would with other items.
Once minted the item will be sent to your wallet via a relay contract. Post-upgrade, this now has a limit of about 200 mints per hour — you can see the status here.
Once minted on-chain, you’ll be able to view your items in the Chikn dApp. Now all you have to do is go explore the wonderful world of our partner projects and enjoy the fruits of your labor!
The availability of each partner collab will vary depending on the drop. We’ve ensured there will be rewards available for the industrial-scale Chikn Farms as well as the little guy. Some will be cheap, some expensive. Some will have open FCFS mints, while others will have one-per-wallet limitations.
Don’t forget: all $WORM, $EGG, and $FERT you send off-chain to forage with are burned. These tokens cannot be brought back on-chain, so make sure you’re not sending out anything you want to keep on-chain.
For our experienced foraging aficionados, you may notice some of the in-game mechanics have changed.
Specifically, we want to disincentivize foragers from sending their FarmLand between fresh wallets to circumvent wallet caps on certain NFTs. This is also to encourage farmers to actually get out there and forage.
There are many levers we are pulling across the game, and this first round of partners is a testing ground for many of these mechanics. As always, we’re interested in your feedback!

Fear not, smol farmers, it’s still incredibly cheap to craft, mint, and decompose. But if you want to power-craft and skip ahead of the grind, it will cost you.
For now, we’re keeping things small for Season 1 as we line up our hens and stress-test the system. We’ll be working on quick iterations of this though as we have more rewards in the tank, and many more partners lined up.
And speaking of Season 1 and lineups, we’ve teamed up with some legends to get the ball rolling.
Over the first season of Partner Rewards, we’re dropping FOUR incredible collaborations.
Starting with MadSkullz, we’ll follow up with Hatchyverse, Love Monster and a drop from CHZ Studios — to well and truly tide farmers over for the holiday season.
Each partner has different rewards, but all have one key commonality:

This round does not require any blueprints, so apart from some wallet caps anyone with a FarmLand can craft Partner Rewards NFTs.

After the joyful return of the MissingOnez to the Skullz City, work quickly began on a new Portalz to the farm. The fabled Bökgar Mountainz. Before we get into it though, we’d like to raise a small issue with the MadSkullz team.
The dev team at Chikn has always expressed support for the Poultry Workers Union, which is why we pay our birds fair wages for their foraging efforts. We note that the exploitation of hard-working Skullz has continued for far too long and call on Mad and the rest of the team to acknowledge the difficult conditions their boney bois labour under.

The Madskullz teams have just opened up three fresh Portalz stacked with rewards for you to enjoy. The MissingOnez portal allows the cross-chain collections from Madskullz but rewards up to 0.5 $AVAX per day! The Cloudz portal also just opened up in collaboration with Rain Studios, so all your Skullz can earn $RAIN too.

Building on the success of our last collaboration, we’re putting hundreds of items and millions of $WORM up for grabs as rewards over at Skullz City. Chikn LP farmers will also have their pick at xFLSH returning to their silos.

It’s a series of gamified NFTs which you can equip to your Madskullz to use in the staking Portalz. Off the back of a successful App Store launch (and a massive congrats on this btw), Love Monster is coming to the roost with some sweet moves, sweet loot, and just some sweetness in general.
As part of the Partner Rewards rollout, farmers will be able to craft seven different shards in-game. You’ll need to combine five of one type over at Love Monster to unlock exclusive Chikn-themed in-game moves with varying rarity.
Note that some of the rarer shards have a crafting limit of one per wallet — you’ll need to figure out how to get the other four if you want the good stuff 😉
Love Monster have been hard at work scripting some sweet coq-fu for your in-game moveset, so if you haven’t already go and get a Love Monster, go and get the game, and start getting ready to put the ‘Poultry’ back into ‘PvP’ 💪

You heard loot before, and we did type just that a couple of paragraphs ago. We’re giving Love Monster hundreds of items to add to a Chikn-themed special-edition lootbox that you can buy in their game with their in-game tokens.
These loot boxes have three rarities — Common, Rare and Legendary — and contain handy battle items, *maybe* some Chikn goodies, and a chance of pulling a super rare Chikn-themed move.

The total supply of the Chikn moves is split 50/50 between our ecosystems, so if you want to guarantee yourself a poultry finisher, consider farming the shards in crafting.

Rain Labz, launched by famed OGs CWG and MrWonderland, is the parent lab behind CHZ Studios — the team that has delivered famed Avalanche stales Elements, DGNZ, Dream Headz, and the standout $RAIN.
Now, the precipitation nation is back again with its latest collection: Ascension.
Ascension features spectacular art from AVAX all-time-greats Risa, Froyd, Delsol and Danetron, and to help them celebrate the launch, Rain Labz have scattered some keys around the farm for you to craft. These are extremely limited so get in quick!
Peek a cheeky breakdown of what Ascension and $RAIN is all about.
We’ve also been lucky enough to snag some NFTs from the Elements, DGNZ and Dream Heads collections which will also be craftable in-game. All of these can be staked for $RAIN, which can be burned for more NFTs once Ascension launches.
We all know $RAIN is good for the farmers, so for a limited time we’ll be swapping $WORM for $RAIN rewards into the FERT/AVAX LP farm pair at chikn.farm. Moist szn, baby.
In a move that Chikn LP farmers will be familiar with, these rewards are limited to the total amount in the pool. Once the rewards allocation is empty, any unclaimed rewards will be forfeited — so make sure you’re keeping an eye on it and claim regularly.
We’re also giving Rain Labz a stack of $WORM and hundreds of items for their LP farm in Ascension — just add LP to the RAIN/AVAX pair on Vavalon and stake it on Ascension to start generating rewards. You’ll earn $WORM based on your LP contribution and get mystery item drops throughout the campaign!
On a technical note, many of the Rain Labz collections were migrated recently due to potential compromises from the ThirdWeb security breaches. Hatchy Pocket

In alarming news, non-Chikn EGGs are being found around the farm with reports of Hatchy Eggs making their way into the warm safety of the roost. In less alarming news, these eggs will hatch into new NFTs!
One thousand Hatchy Eggs will be dropped into WormFarms as part of the Hatchyverse Partner Rewards release. For those who don’t get a lucky pull from their Wormfarm, we have another one thousand Hatchy Eggs available through crafting too!
These Eggs can be hatched into Hatchy Pocket NFTs that give you access to the Hatchyverse ecosystem. It’s all about hatching, as you can probably tell.

Between crafting and the WormFarm, there are 1000 Solar and 1000 Lunar Gen 2 eggs available. These are getting dropped into your WormFarms, so if you haven’t yet, get digging!
This begs the question — what should you do with all these non-Chikn eggs?
We all know that chikn lay $EGG, but did you know that Hatchy Eggs somehow lay $HATCHY?
Once you’ve cracked the egg and received a Hatchy Pocket NFT, you can stake that on the Hatchyverse dApp for $HATCHY rewards distributed based on your collection’s weight relative to the rest of the collection.
$HATCHY can be used to get more eggs for more Hatchy Pocket NFTs — this is the only other way to claim Gen 2 eggs. Your Hatchy Pocket is generated at the moment you crack the egg, and owning the NFT gives you rights to the ecosystem’s IP.
We’re also giving Hatchyverse hundreds of items and millions of $WORM to help incentivize their in-game leaderboard and achievements.
The first round of rewards will be released via the Hatchy Rampage mobile game. Climb the leaderboard to get a lootbox drop of rewards at the end of the campaign. The higher your spot on the leaderboard, the better your lootbox.
These rewards will be made available via an off-chain ‘claim’ voucher that can be redeemed for the on-chain rewards. While they’re off-chain, this claim can still be traded via commands in the Hatchyverse Discord.
You’ll be hearing a lot more from Hatchyverse in the future as we roll out more utility for Chikn tokens in their game. We won’t say anything else for now, except that it won’t just be Hatchy eggs getting cracked over there 🐣

Our four launch partners are just the tip of the [redacted] and we already have stacks more partners lined up and ready to go. Some of these projects fall into gaming, but others operate in SaaS and merchandising — anything that can be tokenized can theoretically be crafted in-game.
The projects we’re collaborating with don’t want to stop with one reward drop either — more prizes, more rewards, and even custom NFTs are all in the pipeline.
The framework for Partner Rewards allows us to exercise full control over the NFTs that we release. In real terms, this means we’re working towards NFTs that have utility across any number of ecosystems — not just with the partner, and not just with Chikn. Our goal here is to stimulate collaboration within Avalanche and across chains: one of the guiding principles of the ChiknX mission and part of the bottom-up rewards approach.
We have a lot of exciting ideas for partnership structures and expansion models in this direction for ChiknX, but for now, we wanted to drop something nice ahead of the holiday season and get this massive ball rolling. When we’re back from a short break, we’ll continue foraging ahead with our next group of partners in the New Year.
A big part of our Q1 plan is to iron out the wrinkles in our CCIP implementation so that we can begin engaging directly with our friends on Polygon and beyond. At the same time, we’ll be working on Partner Foraging to help reduce that big ol’ barrier to entry for all the new users we’re hoping to reach. Tokeggnomics
As astute farmers are certainly aware, there is still some $EGG left unminted from the ecosystem allocations. We touched on this very lightly in the birthday Medium referencing the fact that we’ve been even more stringent than our schedule when it comes to unlocks, as we value sustainability and playability of our game above all else. Let’s dive deeper into that.
Over the last two years, we’ve been working with the interest of the ecosystem’s tokenomics and ultimately the core gameplay that drives Chikn.
Accordingly, some of this allocation has conscientiously remained unminted. While this does help reduce the number of $EGG in circulation, we recognise that it can create confusion about the overall tokenomics.
The ecosystem’s $EGG allocation unlocks at regular intervals, but to date, we’ve been relaxed with the minting schedule, only drawing allocations to their requisite wallets when suitable or necessary. If you’re interested in the specifics, EggBurn.xyz tracks the vesting contract and the eggies that come out of it. Everything is securely mitigated using Open Zeppelin timelocks for full transparency.
Moving forward, we’ll continue to mint $EGG from the allocation at a sustainable, regular cadence until the allocation is complete. We are never able to draw more than what has been outlined, and we project that all allocations will be complete by mid-2024. This should go without saying by now, but for the avoidance of doubt: we have never, and will never, draw any allocation at an unsustainable rate, even if it is permitted. Compromising the sustainability of the ecosystem is out of the question.
We will then proceed to single-side stake the vast majority of the allocation. This has the effect of removing the $EGG from circulation while allowing it to be re-minted later, resulting in healthier tokenomics, and 8.33% of the allocation permanently burned.
For those who need a catch-up, single-sided staking (SSS) was the original way farmers staked their $EGG for $FEED before we introduced LP farming. The $FEED is all gone, so we’ll of course accrue no rewards from using this method.
You’ll also remember the breakage rule that applied to single-sided $EGG deposits: one in every twelve $EGG, or approximately 8.33%, will break in the SSS contract. This is a permanent removal, burning a sizeable amount of $EGG from potential supply.
Our approach is threefold: strengthen the tokenomics, give some certainty to the community about our intentions with this allocation, and retain some flexibility to deploy the allocated $EGG to support the ecosystem when needed.
In total to date, around 88 million $EGG have been laid and minted and approximately 51 million burned. Of that remaining 37m supply, 21 million $EGG is in the LP farm being used by Chikn farmers, and 7.5m is retained in the ecosystem allocations. That means that only 8.5 million $EGG are in circulation for Chikn farmers to use. Pretty darn healthy.
There are currently 4,700 $EGG holders out in the world and the EGG/AVAX pair contains around $1.4 million in liquidity, enabling the entire ecosystem to function more than optimally.
This demonstrates the sturdiness of Chikn gaming tokenomics in all market cycles. The ecosystem tokenomics are anchored by deep liquidity, allowing all players to access $EGG and its utility within the game with ease.
After the lull of the last year, the engine of ecosystem tokenomics is spinning again thanks to the return of sentiment and attention. The strong tokenomics of the $EGG, however, is mostly due to our amazing players and dedicated farmoors.
We’ve said it time and time again: Chikn farmers love to burn their tokens.
In November alone, more than 3 million $EGG were burned. 1.5 million scorched during the birthday Burn Race and the remainder came from regular Chikn ecosystem gameplay.
If you’ve been counting along, that’s roughly 8% of the entire supply deleted in a single month. Chikn farmers are back in force.
State of the $FERT
At this time it’s worth reiterating, as per the last medium, that 75% of the 100 million $FERT allocated to ecosystem liquidity has been extricated from the supply. This 75 million $FERT has been permanently deleted to support the tokenomics of Roostr’s side of the barn.
The remaining allocation has been left unminted since inception, and will only ever be drawn on in such a way that would promote, not hinder, healthy ecosystem tokenomics and gameplay.

Chikn’s 2nd Birthday
Now that the dust has settled and our brain chemistry has returned to normal, it’s a good time to reflect on the biggest thing we did in November.
The 2nd birthday party.
Birthday celebrations kicked off on November 20 with a space where we reflected on the years that were and looked forward to our future. If you’ve never heard Cluck give an emotive off-the-cuff delivery before, we encourage you to give it a listen.
The birthday was more like a birthweek as we announced fun and games to round out our second year of life. If you want a recap of what that year has been like, make sure you check out our Chikn Wrapped 2 article where we go through the highs and lows of the 12 months since the first birthday bash.
In the space, we announced some fun and games that would take us through the week.
To stimulate the legs a little, the great Seabok launched the first open beta of Roostr Run, an infinite runner that’s simple to learn (you run) and insane to master (you die, often).
We had prizes up for grabs, with Degen taking the top spot with 6,061 points. It’s tough to crack 500, so we are in awe of the crazy gamer focus he mustered to beat 6k.
In total, 690 unique devices connected over the week and Seabok gained valuable data from the test. He’s busy pushing refinements and fixes and upgrades for the next version — and his call for collaborators is still well and truly open. We’ve also heard word the Roostr might be let out for another run before the year ends.

On the same day we launched a Chiknstagram art prize to run us through the week. We had some great entries come in as farmers celebrated the one thing we all truly hold dear — $EGG.
Jafar, Ivica and Ainur each took home a party hat NFT as a prize — a worthy reward for artistic merit.

It wouldn’t be a Chikn birthday if we didn’t drop a limited-edition NFT, so for the second time (and therefore making it a tradition) we opened the floodgate to collectors looking to nab the latest addition to the birthday suite.
Last year, we distributed 1,000 party hats as a free mint on a FCFS basis. Despite being only collectables, Party Hats have emerged with a little economy of their own and are sought-after items among savvy farmers.
This year, we did things a bit differently. On November 22 we opened up a $EGG Burn Race for 24 hours with the top 500 burners walking away with a tasty piece of cake 🎂
Despite gas prices being absolutely insane, 791 wallets scorched their $EGG over 1,303 transactions. In total, a mind-blowing 1.456 million $EGG was burned with around a third going up in flames in the last hour. That’s a lot of protein.
The top wallet burned 130,000 $EGG, with second place deleting 111,111 $EGG and third 90,001 $EGG.
Lucky number 500 got a cake with 150 $EGG burned, and everyone else fell in between.

To round out the week we had another little space where we reflected on the celebration and announced the winners of the Roostr Run and Chiknstagram competitions. We also dropped something else that rocked the roost…
The much-anticipated art upgrade was released, with farmers able to toggle between new and OG art styles in the roost. So far this change has only been implemented for chikn and will only ever be a cosmetic switch — the metadata has not been altered, so the original art will remain on-chain and across third-party marketplaces.
Gravy has spent the better part of a year working on the upgrade and the brand revamp to better align us with the ChiknX mission, and although we’ve said it before, it’s worth saying again: this is a massive effort and he deserves all the praise he gets.
As we round into year 3 A.P. (anno pullum), there’s a lot to reflect on and a lot more to look forward to. It wasn’t the easiest year, but we made it through — stronger, wiser, and ready for what comes next.

FEED Navidad
The time has come again for silly season, and the Chikn team will be taking a little break to spend time with our families.
Assuming there are no fires to put out, we’ll be tools down from December 22 for approximately two weeks, but we’ll be back fresh in the New Year to ramp things up all over again.
That ~two-week break will probably be in name only, though — we have it on good authority that Sherbok plans to spend the precious time he has with his family glued to the charts.
As this will be our last Medium of 2023, we’d like to take a moment to thank you all, from the bottom of our hearts, for making this community what it is. Chikn is a place where friendships are made and ideas flourish, and the constant bok-and-banter on our timelines keeps us all locked to our screens.
However you celebrate December — or if you don’t celebrate at all — we want to wish you the very best over the holiday season. May your hearts be full of love, and your stockings full of coq.
Never change. We love you all.
