As we approached graduation and gained corporate experience, our sights were set on merging technology with everyday challenges. One such challenge we identified was in the realm of travel โ specifically, the need for a quick, affordable, and environmentally friendly taxi service for short distances. This vision gave birth to E-QTS (Electric โ Quick Taxi Service), especially timely with the burgeoning electric vehicle (EV) revolution in India during 2021. ๐โก๏ธ
Our goal went beyond mere convenience; we aimed to test the feasibility of such a service in densely populated areas, envisioning its potential expansion to cater to closed campuses and organizational spaces. ๐๐
Getting started wasnโt without its hurdles. Securing electric vehicles, vetting drivers proficient in customer service and familiar with operational areas, and developing a robust mobile application were initial challenges we tackled head-on. We delved deep into research, studying successful models like Uber, Ola, and Lyft to understand nuances in time-management, geolocation services, and user interfaces. ๐ฑ๐ฆ
Upon launch, initial traction in heavily populated zones seemed promising, although operational costs quickly eroded profitability. The true test came with an unforeseen event โ an accident involving one of our vehicles. While thankfully no one was seriously injured, it exposed critical gaps in our risk management and operational preparedness. ๐จ๐
