DailyME 70: Make yourself ready to face the day

Great Stoics

I’ve been working my way through this journal and I can definitely say it is doing something for me. Don’t know what exactly yet, but it definitely has something in it.

Merely asking yourself questions like that every day and responding to them in a written form is already therapeutic, however you look at it.

If it’ll bring discipline of Stoicism into your life or mine, — frankly, I don’t know.

But I gotta say I love trying new things and I’ve been thinking about buying this book for a while, since last year. And so I did buy it in the beginning of the year and I started writing in it on the 4th of January but I still wanna write the entries from the first, second and third January.

In any case, I’m back home from a walk around town with an Irish friend. We also hit a bar where apparently there were dancing classes, yuhu, enjoyed that. We also had a nice chat about everything and nothing, as always. I brought him a small present and he brought me one from Ireland. Sweet Georgian Doors coasters. ♥ Cute, small and nice, exactly what I wanted, even though I didn’t know about it =)

Now as I’m writing this, I’m thinking about my pretty little head hitting the pillow and drifting off to sleep. I have to get up in 5 hours, so I will let you read a quote from one of the great stoics Marcus Aurelius and ponder on that, while I switch off and hopefully fall asleep real fast ♥

“On those mornings you struggle with getting up, keep this thought in mind — I am awekening to the work of a human being. Why then am I annoyed that I am going to do what I’m made for, the very things for which I was put into this world? Or was I made for this, to snuggle under the covers and keep warm? It’s so pleasurable. Were you then made for pleasure? In short, to be coddled or to exert yourself?” — Marcus Aurelius, Meditations, 5.1

Thank you for reading ♥
