Sir Arthur Conan Doyle — #100FavouriteAuthors
The choice is elementary!
Pretty bad-ass doctor, this Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
He did study medicine, and although he was a failed ophthalmologist, he was a successful general medical practitioner. A staunch supporter of vaccination, he wrote several articles against anti-vaccinators, denouncing their views. His background in medicine is probably what formed the basis of Sherlock Holmes’ keen eye for detail and his knowledge of poisons.
I liked almost every character in the Sherlock-verse.
Be it the sweet old housekeeper Mrs. Hudson, his best friend and ally in adventure, Dr. John Watson, the incredibly dumb, yet tenacious Inspector Lestrade, or Holmes’ cleverest adversary, the evil Dr. Moriarty. Conan Doyle was a master at characterisation, and it clearly shone through in his stories.
You know the drill by know. Here are some of my favourite Holmes stories.
The Hound of the Baskervilles
A Study in Scarlet
A Scandal in Bohemia
The Valley of Fear
His Last Bow
The Sign of the Four
That shall be all for my favourite author #18. If you want to know more about him, I suggest you start reading…
