About Me — Blaine Layne

I grew up in a small town in the Appalachian Mountains of Tennessee where they say storytelling is a rich part of our culture, and I believe it. Family reunions consist of telling adventures and embarrassing stories since the last time we saw each other.

Another interesting part of our culture is that you don’t talk about or brag about your accomplishments. This comes across as rude and arrogant. It is up to others to boast about you, unless you are directly asked about your experience.

This gives “about me” a personal cringe, but I understand necessity of letting the audience get to know me.

I have worked with UT Extension and the 4H program since 2016. I am also a youth pastor, water plant operator and county commissioner. In college, I majored in secondary education and history.

I was a credentialed personal trainer with NASM for a few years and a gym manager for three years. Health and fitness have always been a passion. I enjoy helping those who are trying to improve their life and fight against the daily grind.

I also bear the burden of creativity. I’m sure all other creatives reading this can understand. It’s a part of who we are and how we thrive. Yet, it can be a lonely venture. We spend hours, weeks, months or even possibly years on our creative project with excitement and enthusiasm. Then…
