About Me — David Ferrers
My stories show how happy, meaningful and prosperous lives are created by working out who you are and expressing yourself.
I wrote my first book when I was twenty-two years old. It was a shocker, with no theme, weak characterisation, and no point to the story. Fortunately, I cannot remember what happened to it.
At that time, I was a trainee copywriter at an advertising agency in London and aspired to be a novelist. Looking back at my younger self, I can now see that I was more seduced by the idea of being known as a writer than in doing the actual work. I was not inspired to work at my craft. I just wanted to be famous, wealthy and loved.
My first career change
Frustrated by my lack of progress, I transferred to the management side of the business and became an Accounts Executive. For the next twenty years, I slaved away in my suit and tie, managing projects to produce TV commercials, press ads in colour and black and white and loads of giant posters, mainly for household products and groceries.
The more I slaved at my management job, the more it felt like I was in a prison with the walls pressing in on me more and more each day. Occasionally, I would explode out of my cell, raging like a bull elephant…
